Local Multi-Player Games
Local Multiplayer is a type of multiplayer mode that allows the players to participate in the game together without using the internet. Most video game consoles feature at least one additional controller to allow another player to join the game that has a multiplayer mode. Split screen is often used during the local multiplayer, and some consoles allow using two separate screens. Many of the PC games also allow the players to participate in a local multiplayer. Most turn-based games let the players take turns using the same device that is passed from one player to another. Some of the older PC games used various parts of the keyboard as a substitute for two controllers. There are also games that can be played in a semi-local multiplayer mode, in which the players use two devices that are connected through a local network, such as LAN or Wi-Fi.
