About

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is the eighth major installment of the Ace Combat series of flight simulators.

Premise and setting

The series is set in the Strangereal, a fictional alternate version of Earth. This world has different geography and history, albeit its countries and cultures are based on prototypes from our real world. Skies Unknown follows the Lighthouse War (also called the Second Continental War) a conflict between the Kingdom of Erusea and the Osean Federation in an alternate 2019. The goal of the war is to control the International Space Elevator. The Erusean army attacks the Osean military that protected the Elevator. In response, Osea launches a large-scale attack against Farbanti, Erusea's capital city, causing massive loss of civilian lives.

Main characters

The main protagonist in the Skies Unknown story campaign is Trigger, a pilot in the Osean Air Force. He was framed for murder and transferred to the penal squadron. While the player starts as an Osean military, the game does not favor any side in the conflict. Rosa Cossette D'Elise, a princess and heir to the throne of Erusea, also plays a major role in the plot.

Gameplay

The player controls Trigger's fighter plane, F-22A Raptor, and completes various missions against enemy fighter jets. Other types of aircraft do not appear in this game, unlike in the previous games. The game reintroduces some of the mechanics from the previous installments, such as checkpoints and player-controlled flares. Skies Unknown is also the first game in the series to make clouds influence the gameplay.

ACE COMBAT 7: SKIES UNKNOWN reviews and comments

Well despite absurd story development it’s a good flight arcade with well balanced core gameplay. Sometimes there are interesting missions, graphics looks good, development tree with a lot of options, also impressive feelings in PSVR missions.

This game reminded me of why I used to love Ace Combat on the PS2. A great story and amazing gameplay with each level looking wonderful. Nothing ever felt like a grind to unlock and the music is incredible.
good start point for newcomer. the game is a fly arcade game with score timer and the whole stuff. U will know easilly if u love the game after 30 min of play. Warning, when u start playing u have to pick your control mode, pick expert the other mode is pointless. The mission are very well designed and will definetly push u. The ost, masterclass. The story is kinda dumb but have some moment.
«OST on repeat»

I mean, it's HD Ace Combat... what else is there to say?
a good game for newcomers to the series, but if youve played before it wont feel too different. combat is as good as it gets, which is very fun, but the story is pretty awful and online multiplayer was an afterthought. doesnt seem like it wants to be a serious mainstream contender while co-opting some of the more questionable aspects of popular games. post-stall maneuvers were finally implemented and are unfortunately useless.

Welcome back Ace Combat, it's great to have you back. The game is beautiful, the soundtrack is amazing, they dropped the stupid QTE-Gameplay (and the chopper parts) from the last part and best of all, we're back in a fantasy setting. No more USA vs Russia vs Terrorist, just pure, beautiful ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t and I loved every minute of it so far and will continue to do so. There realy is nothing more to say. If you're a fan of the series, buy it, you won't regret it.

Have now played 5 Missions in the Story and must say really good Implementation as An old Ace Combat veteran who had already played the first Parts on the PS1+2. Had no Bugs now or any other Mistakes, let alone performance issues. The Control with an Xbox 360 Pad has also been beautifully implemented and works flawlessly. Performance moderately runs for me in WQHD (1440p) everything on High and 144Hz, the Game without any FPS slumps, constant at 90FPS at ABOUT 80-95% GPU Utilization. System Xeon 1246v3, 16GB Ram, Vega64. Therefore, I can only recommend Ace Combat 7 for myself. However, the Problems of the remaining Players, such as corresponding Joystick support, 21:9 and 4k Resolution should be gepatch'd at Times.

Madness. How long have I been waiting for this Game? Then, this morning, the time has finally come. Did I get annoyed that the PS4 Version 1 Month came out rather. Ok, I Met and loved Ace Combat on PSOne at the Time. So Far acceptable, that now the PS4 took Precedence here. But Then the Nonsense with the VR. A Game that is predestined for this ... Well seis drum. And now the nasty Surprise today: My Thrustmaster T-Fligt Hotas X won't be recognized? Quickly into the Menu-there's something from CIONE. But just T-Flight Hotas One, a Hotas brought Out especially for Ace Combat. Build the Same with my Model! Excuse me? Do you want To waverish me? Sorry, I'm about to give this Game back again. What is this? I am not buying the Same One again now. So with all Due respect. I really need to tear myself together not to become a fancy here now. This is evil. That completely kinks me up the Joy of this certainly otherwise wonderful Game. The first Impression, at any rate, was strong. Graphically top, Storry-no matter, just Ace Combat feeling. I'm a Fan of the first Hour! Started By Air Combat ... The last Ace Combat was already such a Disappointment. A lot of things should be done better here-back to the roots. And that is probably the Case. But this Company policy is incomprehensible. This is The lowest Drawer and one occurs in the Most Valuable. Oh yes, missing Mouse Support 2019 ... well, I could have seen over that too. No Co-op in Multiplayer? One of H.A.W.X's Strengths back then. What a pity. I'm waiting for Project Wingman ... My Bright Spot on the Horizon.
