The fate of humanity is in your hands...

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is a turn-based strategy/role-playing game based on the award winning Call of Cthulhu RPG. Developed in conjunction with Chaosium and based their multi-award winning Call of Cthulhu RPG. Set in the midst of World War One, the game pits your team of investigators and soldiers against an ancient enemy, one older than humanity itself... Can your team of investigators keep their grip on sanity long enough to stop these diabolical plans?

The game features:
- Full 3D graphics with high quality textures, images and effects to bring the action alive.
- Select from a range of authentic period weapons, equipment, armour, skills and more.
- Build your team up to match your gaming style; will you shred your foes with massed rifle fire or blast them with powerful spells gleaned from forbidden tomes? It's your choice!

Call of Cthulhu was originally the title of a novella by cult American horror writer H.P. Lovecraft (1890–1937) which has, since it was published in 1928, captured the imagination of generation after generation of fans. Returning to the horror from Lovecraft's original 'Reanimator' set during the dark days of WW1, Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land draws the player into a nightmare world where the terror of mustard gas and trench warfare are but a foretaste of what is to follow.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land reviews and comments

I can only warn about the Game. Steam publishes enough Non-playable Scrap Games, but this one is one of the worst I'm aware of. Not only does the Controls not work properly and are also cumbersome, but the Story is clichéd, predictable and also tremendously boring. Cthulhu-Atmosphere??? Absolutely no Trace. I can say This because years ago I was Editor-in-chief of the Cthulhu Role-playing game For several time and published Material accordingly. Unfortunately, these less talented Developers apparently have some Success, otherwise this Scrap would not have found a Place on Steam. It is a great pity. In any case, I am warned and will not buy another game from these Developers. And this Game isn't worth a Penny, no matter how cheaply it's offered. Whoever buys it and is disappointed is to blame for it himself. And whoever buys it and finds it good, frankly, has little Idea of good play and cthuloid Atmosphere.

So I liked this little game. The Story is nice and doesn't break Lovecraft's Cthulhu myth in my Opinion either, so no gross Mistakes or anything like that have been bucked. The Controls take some getting used to in the Beginning, but the Tutorial helps something. Everything in one, the Game offers a Handful of Missions, embedded in an action story you have to pass tactical Battles. You have to place your Heroes cleverly, attack thoughtfully and use the map of the Mission and the Terrain for your own Benefit. It's quite short and can be played through in a few Hours, but if you only do 1-2 Missions a day, you'll have some of the Game for a Longer time. I had bought it at the Sale and up to £331 I would find an acceptable Price. Those who like Games with turn-based Tactics fights in which you have to send a Troupe of different Hero figures with different Weapons and Abilities into the Field against a Variety of Enemies and Creatures will certainly have Fun in this Game.

What is Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land? First of All, it has to be said that it is not what you actually think Of the Name, but a Tactical Shooter, in the Sense of X-Com. But what sounds so Wrong and funny here is really very simple and well Implemented. You usually have a Squad of 4/5 People and have to fulfill shipping goals on a Predetermined Map to complete the Level, while the Game Does not tolerate any errors should one of these Troop Miters die and not 4 Rounds after his Death "revived" "He will be stripped forever and must thus be replaced against One, who has no Baptized Items and even more important No Skill Points. Because in this Game there is after each completed Mission XP, after a Level Climb you get skill points which You can invest in different Tributes. As mentioned above, Characters Are Which brings you into the Group to Level 0 and therefore worse than experienced Troop Transmitters. Of course, the cyclopean (hollow size) degree of Difficulty is still to be mentioned, which causes one to restart the current Level more often. By and large, Call of Cthulhu is a sardonic Game that I would not only recommend to any H.P. Lovecraft Fan, take you high.
