Question:

What was the point of the assignment?

Answer:

The point of this assignment was to implement a way to import geometries from maya utilizing the systems we created using lua in the last assignment.

What did you do personally to complete the assignment?

Answer:

I followed the given instructions to complete the assignment. I also had to change my code from the previous assignments so that my geometry accepts vertices given in right hand notation as I had made it left handed by default.

Did you get any help from a fellow student?

Answer:

Yes, I received some help on enabling the depth testing and writing from Pluto and some help with Maya from Emma.

Answer:

None. The exporter should be used independently to load assets if desired.

Answer:

None. The exporter should be used independently to load assets if desired.

Question: 

Tell us whether you exported the unused data (i.e. normals, tangents, bitangents) to your human-readable file or not. Explain why.

Answer:

I did not export any of the unused data. At this point in the project I do not think it is necessary and I would rather spend the time that I would have used writing code to export the unused data on other work. I also think that adding them at this time would make our human-readable file less readable. It shouldn’t be very difficult to allow the use of this data in the future.

Question: 

Tell us what happens if you try to load a model with too many vertices. Your code should gracefully handle this rather than crash or render something incorrectly.

Answer:

Well my first attempt at making a geometry with a lot of vertices caused maya to break when trying to export. The second attempt I made a plane with a vertex width of 250 and a vertex height of 250. The game still ran but lagged a bit at the beginning. I added the lua file of this plane to the project as well.
