Story
Influenced by the Oddworld series, Ico, and Shadow of the Collosus, as well as Studio Ghibli films, Fossil Echo tells the story of a young boy and his journey to climb a giant tower in the middle of the sea. How and why he got there are questions that will be answered via playable flashbacks during his ascent. The game offers over 15 minutes of fully animated cutscenes and the story is told without any dialogue or written text.Gameplay
Fossil Echo mixes old-school, "die & retry" platforming gameplay with some stealth elements. As in Abe's Oddysee and Another World, you have little margin for error; precise movement and timing is required to get through and avoid confrontation, as the character is young, weak, and unable to fight or kill, most of the time...Art
Fossil Echo features a detailed art style, with pre-rendered/hand painted backgrounds and hand animated 2D characters. Adopting the style of animated film, it presents an array diverse environments, from lush forest to snow covered tower. With no HUD or any indications displayed on screen, the game aims at immersing you from start to finish.Sound
The world of Fossil Echo is brought to life by over two hours of unique, original music by John Robert Matz (Gunpoint, Rodina) and sound design by Gordon McGladdery (Rogue Legacy, Fantastic Contraption). Music and sound work in concert to set the mood and highlight the story and actions during gameplay and cutscenes.

Fossil Echo is developed by Phil Crifo (Story, Art & Design), Thierry Boura (Programming), John Robert Matz (Music), and A Shell In The Pit (Sound Design).

Fossil Echo reviews and comments

Actually, a great Game just for the regular Price of £14.99. There's Oddworld: New ' n ' Tasty for £19.99n the better choice. In addition, the Developers state that the Game has a German Sound edition, this is not true, because the whole Game is silent and accompanied by a Music. For that half Truth, there's a Thumbs down. Also, I have to add that the Game is kept far too short for this Prize. Too many Cutscenes and too little Gameplay. The Level design is almost always similar and offers little Variety.

A very nice Game, very Nicely Animated with a Story that Comes across mysteriously at first, but explains itself in the running of the Game:) Update 2016-08-31 "Fossil Echo" I played through, it's a bit short of the process, but it makes the slightly short Playing Time away through history and explaining This without Words. To the Graphic I have to say that everything is very animated. To a small Bug: Should the Game crash in the final Scene, it uninstall and deletes the Remaining File where the Game was stored, mine As bsp.: G:\Steamapps\common\Fossil Echo You can find at: C:\Users\User Name\Documents\ SavedGames I wish you a lot of Fun with it and yet try the Archival "Play the Game through without Dying" then I think you can get so 200 Hours definitely together:P

A small one in English-especially for the developers: Just wanna thank you for this awesome game. I did and do love it a lot. Pretty sure I'm going to play it again. The style, the graphics, the music ... Just beautiful. Over all one of the best indie games I played for a long time. Oh and thanks for taking care of the trading cards = D It's great to see that developers actually care about the players. Well done, guys. Well done. Long Version in German: What a beautiful Game. The Setting, the Music, the graphic Style. Just beautiful. I was directly captivated by the Game, so that I had played it through several times within a very short Time. The Levels themselves are quite simple. Here it is usually said either to blow off from the Guards who are after you or to "jump" one or the other sometimes k.o. Okay, you die here and there, too, but it's not a Bloodborne or Dark Souls by a Long Shot;) Again and again there are also very special Levels, where you would also like to tear one or the other Hair out. But since the Game is by no means completely unfair, you can learn from your Mistakes and already you have completed one of the heavier Stages after playing ten times. You play and learn. For me one of the most beautiful Indie games of the last Years. Will play it again for sure. And what to say? But the Developers are also super nice when you're having Problems. Great Service. Hope there's more to come. Thumbs up.
