About

In How to Shoot a Criminal, you investigate a famous newspaper in the 1930's era. You must find definite proof of wrongdoing with the help of the game's search engine in order to sink the newspaper down.
Aaron Williams is an ambitious editor in chief in charge of the Revenge, a newspaper bent on revealing the truth at all costs. This noble mission becomes harder and harder to accomplish as politics, economics and inner dissension within the newspaper staff gets in the way. It will test the mettle of the editing team of the Revenge, and ultimately will reveal the true nature of some of its members.
The Revenge's motives have been corrupted by Aaron's ambition, a criminal by association.Your part in the story
It will take you, interpreting Scarlett, a talented and passionate journalist who is part of the inner circle, to explore the various articles of the Revenge to find a way to bring down its tyrannical editor in chief.
Plunge into an era and a scandalous story that will make the headlines, as you uncover the dark secrets of the Revenge. Search for key words, and the truth behind the different affairs covered by the newspaper.
Find a way to succeed in bringing the whole paper down.
How to shoot a criminal is a harder idea to achieve than to entertain.

How to shoot a criminal reviews and comments

Playing in the line of "her story", staging, actors and characters are really good. Now I have some reservations about the interface, a big lack of space whatsoever in terms of notes and the possiibility to organize. Then on the investigation in itself, many false tracks with only one or two videos, many characters but only half that are developed. And finally, a big moment of emptiness for me and for many people to what I could read where we desperately seek the right keywords and we start typing everything and anything. I had nice listen to the help messages, look in the notes, newspapers, radio, cross the different media, but nothing to do, I finally yielded and found a YouTube video to find a keyword (having nothing to do with the plot) to finally unblock the end scene. I still had a good time, the genre is really under represented and it's nice to see a second game of the genre! And it's a small French Studio so support them! We want more!

This investigative game takes on exactly the same concept as "her story", and significantly improves it. You play as Scarlett, a revenge reporter who tries to sink her boss: Aaron. To do so, you will have to collect the evidence that can incriminate the latter in a sufficiently serious case. As in "her story", you will need to use keywords to make archive documents appear (mainly video). The documents are numerous, and the search is limited to 4 results, which will require you to use other keywords or combinations to find out more. The videos are of good quality, although the actor game lacks conviction and passion (but it remains widely acceptable). The big advantage is that it is 100% French (dubbing and subtitles), which strengthens the immersion and facilitates the understanding and the search of clues. Nevertheless, the game suffers from several limitations:-as in her story, we sometimes discover (often?) videos by chance. We type a keyword, which displays a video but it will reveal something else more important than the keyword in question, which, luckily, was mentioned in the video in an anecdotal way. We then lose in the logic of investigation. -scriptically speaking, we shouldn't embody Scarlett. Indeed, this one is very often present in the videos, and therefore is supposed to have knowledge of most of the things that we discover. The player is not. Embodying a policeman or another reporter investigating "the revenge" would have been a better idea. -It is not possible to sort videos to classify them in folders, or to get numbers, or note by which keyword we discovered it. Why on earth would an investigator not be able to put files aside and annotate them? The note system of the game is too basic: just a notebook where you can note words, without linking them with the video documents. In short, to your papers, and again, the lack of a video ID is not going to make your job easier. -the story is not so advanced. I expected a much more complex plot and scandal the good point, on the other hand, is that it is possible to find (at least?) 2 cases and to make a choice on what will be revealed, which would have a consequence on the epilogue. I recommend this game for its low price, and those who liked "her story" will have to find their account there. But this is not the survey game of the year.
