Jade Empire: Special Edition reviews and comments

Bioware stands for Role-playing games that set Standards. After Hits like "Baldurs Gate," "Neverwinter Nights" and "Knights of the Old Republic," The Creators presented the game "Jade Empire" to the 2005 (PC version 2007). Accordingly, my Expectations for the Game were high. However, since I was previously spoiled by the RPG sensations "Dragon Age" and "Mass Effect," my Expectations were a little dampened. Still, "Jade Empire" is without a doubt an outstanding Game. STORY The Setting is set in Asia. We take on the Role of the last surviving Ghost Monk. We are not aware of this at the Beginning, but very slowly we are introduced to the Secrets of martial Arts through our Master Li. Of course, in the midst of our Training, disaster happens when our Home Village is attacked and razed to the Ground. In search of the Culprits and the Reasons for this, we learn not only that Master Li is not the one we thought he was, but also that the Action is riddled with Intrigue and other Adversity. GAMEPLAY is Played with the Keyboard according to proven RPG control. Bioware typical Of conversations with all sorts of characters occupy much of the Game, each with several answer options available, which we also use to determine whether the Character is more likely to contest the dark or the bright Path. The dark Path relies more on Hardness and Punishment, while the bright one is characterized by Goodness and Courtesy. The Fights work simplistic, there are few Opportunities for Action that vary depending on the Fighting Style we use. We learn the different Fighting Styles during the Game and can then refine them a little through Experience. I was a little shallow about the depth of Play, as the Depth of experience gained is used to Develop the Character, but it quickly became apparent that I – although I had learned a Variety of Fighting Styles, I always accessed three specific ones, as they were already far away from the start of the year. They were developed and I coped with it quite well. There are no numbers on the Fighting styles, but only a slightly different Description. Therefore, the Player cannot "see" which Fighting Style now deals or heals more Damage in real life. Otherwise, there is a lot running around the World, the World is quite clear, the individual Sections are quite linear, large Alternative Paths are scarcely available and long Walkways are limited, but are quite present. GRAFIK AND SOUND You quite notice to the Game that it has already 10 Years + under its Belt. The Graphics are – also for 2007 – not an Overachiever, but "functionally beautiful." The Sound fits in wonderfully here, most Of the conversations are set to music and the Speakers do a solid Job. ATMOSPHERE The Far Eastern Theme hasn't fully reached me. One also notices that Bioware was still in the Development of "Conversation leadership." So some Dialogues Are almost outrageous, Interlocutors are turned 180 Degrees by the simplest Arguments. For me, that was already gnawing at the Mood. That didn't change the fact that the Language seems ancient and repeatedly harbors a flowery Rewrite. The Names of the individual Characters are equally baffled, so we encounter Characters with the Names "Morgenstern," "Wilblume," "Hou the Slipper hero" or "Flitzender Fox." You have to be able to get involved in That already. FAZIT If you don't get bothered by the Aging graphics and also not by the flowery names of the Characters, you can enjoy a really good Role-playing game that gives just under 20 Hours to Play Through. Even if "Jade Empire" could not fully inspire me, anything but a Recommendation would be inappropriate. Because the Game is without a Doubt good and has a quite exciting Story. I've played Jade Empire on my XBox before so I can say that the Mac implementation is fantastic. Less helpful are the system requirements mentioned here. The game runs on my Mac Pro with GeForce 8800 GT and two Xeon x5150 (each 2 x 2.66 GHz) absolutely butter soft in 1920 x 1200). Equally exemplary is the controller control, even if the protagonist sometimes reacts too hectically. Anyway, my Xbox 360 controller is properly recognized and supported. The only drawback, if you can call it that way, is the fact that the game is relatively short. Maybe that's just how it feels because of the exciting plot.

I've been playing Jade Empire long and passionately on the XBox, and I'm glad I can do that on my MacBook. Jade Empire was released to KOTOR by BioWare and initially had a very tough stance, as the game was often compared to KOTOR, though thematically based in a completely different world. However, anyone who has embarked on Jade Empire has been rewarded. Complete with German language edition, texts, etc. this pearl is now available for Macs. Nice thing! Graphically, the game is somewhere between PS2 and early PS3 graphics settled, but quite well aged and still good to look at. Since my personal gameplay and gaming experience is more important than bombast graphics, there was no reason for me to hesitate, especially since the price is reasonable with just under 10 euros. Anyone who likes the old BioWare titles and wants to get involved with the theme of the game should not hesitate to find out and experience a lot. For the technical requirement for the game one more note: I play Jade Emperie here on a MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015) with 1.2GHz Intel Core M, 8GB of RAM and SSD. It's airy, no problems. It should also be noted that it is easier to use with the mouse and keyboard (solely due to the larger cursor keys) than on the MacBook. :-)
