Thomas Grip
Thomas Grip is Swedish game designer and creative director at Frictional Games. One of the best-known Swedish game developers due to the popularity of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and SOMA.
Career
Thomas Grip has been making games since the age of 16. After getting a magister degree at Uppsala University, he alongside Jens Nilsson founded Frictional Games. The studio’s debut project was 2007 horror game Penumbra: Overture. During the development of this game, Grip has been working of numerous aspects of it, from C++ programming to level design and map scripting. The game became moderately successful and spawned a sequel and an expansion pack. In 2010 the studio’s breakthrough project was released – survival horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent. This time Grip was also a writer as well as game designer and programmer. His multi-role involvement in the game’s development continued with Frictional Games’ most recent title – SOMA.
