About

WARNING: This game is deep & complex! Take a moment to look over the Quick Guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=613706055 Watch the SteamVR mechanics video if playing in VR. 3089 vs 5089 questions? FAQ here.

5089 expands upon 3089, bringing you back to planet Xax 2000 years later. After the mysterious events in the year 4089, the Overlord hasn't been heard from for the last millennium, and so the experimental robots have continued to wage war according to their program. Without the Overlord to repair the damage, Xax has fallen into a state of chaos and dereliction. However, a shadowy new power has risen... how will your presence turn its fate?

Shoot, sneak, build, talk, slash, buy, sell, fly, swing, hover, scavenge, teleport & conquer your way through an endlessly generated planet. You can do it all with a friend, too. 5089 includes a rework of 3089 & does not require the original to play.Newly Added & Key Features
  • Virtual Reality: Play 5089 with any SteamVR device, like the Rift or Vive! Want to sit, stand or use your whole room with tracked controllers? Go for it! Make sure to watch the SteamVR mechanics video alongside the trailer! (See forum for more VR details)
  • Dialog System: 5089 doesn't just have a new story, it has a new way to interact with it. You'll be talking with your fellow robots & more, and what choices you make will have consequences...
  • New Content: New robot types, new buildings, a new automatic weapon, a new gravity utility, new quest types, enemy shield system, item part color customization, story tidbits...
  • Improved Visuals: Better textures, new shaders, redone lighting system, improved animations, additional models... everything should just look more polished & better.

  • Over 130 Robot Quotes: Many from fan suggestions!
  • Balancing Overhaul: Economy has been revamped, item stats changed, difficulty curved tweaked, aiming system improved...
  • Better Performance: Even though 5089 is more detailed, engine reworks shall allow 5089 to run faster than its predecessors!
  • Advanced Terrain Generation: Buildings will now be placed in flatter areas, roads will be smoother...
  • 2-Player Co-op: 5089 now uses UPnP to automatically configure your router to forward ports if needed. Also, when Steam is run as administrator (and as a result, 5089 too) on Windows, it will automatically update Windows Firewall to allow communication. These improvements should make co-op play easier to setup!

5089: The Action RPG reviews and comments

////// Better to buy it on sale ////// It started good but ended worse The very first game that Phr00t made was really good and was fun to play 3079 and yes it is not a fail that i didnt write 3089 cause his 3079 isnt on steam it was on desura first and it was really promising sadly with 3089 it went down a mountain for me and somehow it lost everything for me cause its style is just not fitting for myself and the soundtrack is missplaced aswell thats all my opinion but far worse with this game is that it feels so extremly like you buy 3 089 again and with that i give this game back cause i just dont feel comfy with buying it. I sadly cant recomment that game for being the same sorry it had should be a patch not a game again even with its sale on ppl who had 3089 it would be expire and then you have to pay its 7,99 $ So i can say if you like 3089 this is like a buy patch and you should think twice if you want to pay for its upgrade thats everybodys choice. If you dont have 3089 and want to try it out you should stay away from 3089 then and go straight to 5089 but in my opinion it needs more of a line its way to filled with features that feel offplaced. The story (if there even is one) is so unnoticable that you wont care at all you get smashed in that world and be one of the yellow robots that fight violet robots theres a bit of a story yea but somehow its so uninteresting that i dont get hooked at all. The lootsystem is nice to have but worse in its being its so generic and is interesting like you look on a excel chart. Too many numbers and way to much stats it wants to be a diablo like system with random loot but it failes cause of its old fashion. Retro? or just out off date? Well all on this game feels pretty "old" to me like its from years ago but in this time you already are "corrupted" with new graphics and i wouldnt care so much about that if the fonts the death sound as an example that just tells me straight what the heck did i buy there!? i even think i heard a "william scream" on one of the robots dead that just feels old and not for its time being. End words I dont recomment this game at all it feels: - too old - like a buy patch - simply isnt fun - has a bad quest system I regret on buying it and return it to steam i will look into more games cause 3079 was like one of the first indie games i buyed from phr00t but sadly that was the only good game for myself and its development just went down in my eyes. #### Review Update 25.02.2016 #### So i talked with the Dev from 5089 as it is mentioned on the bottom of this review in the comment section and i got a bit more into the game with some knowledge it feels ok but sadly i wasnt able to say "Buy this game" the price is pretty h igh (7,99 €) i buyed it for under 5$ what seems fair to me. So what did i do since i writed my first review? I basicly talked things out a bit and rebuyed the game for some more testing and i was longly thinking how i can pull this review into a positiv one. Sadly i couldnt the game is fine but now the big point for me it feels like theres no real point to play it i did a bit of base capturing and went around the world a bit (the world now looks better and more realistic than it did last time) What do i miss? For me it feels simply not fun enough it feels a bit slow and i feel like i see everything that can be done in the beginning i did some building aswell this was kinda cool but sadly i couldnt motivate me to build something big like a house in this world. That are my feelings with the game so far it reminds me of an old game and trust me i really have nothing against real old games (like system shock 2 or Deus Ex) but these games feel like a round thing to me. Sadly 5089 goes off like a tree to me into many directions but pulling the game into pieces that somehow feel a bit missplaced. I will test it some more for sure but i couldnt safely say to my friends "buy it" without feeling bad
