Fallout 3
About
Fallout 3 is a legendary action RPG, which continues the Fallout franchise. Players dive into the events held 36 years after Fallout 2's ending. The game is set in the post-apocalyptic open world known as the “Capital Wasteland.” According to the storyline, by 2277, the whole familiar world finds itself devastated. The cataclysm is the consequence of the nuclear war of 2077 between USA and China. The only people left on Earth are lucky ones, who managed to stay alive on the surface, and those, who made their way to the warehouses provided by Vaul-Tech (like the main character). In the very beginning, the protagonist wakes up inside the Vault 101. His only aim is to find his father who left the warehouse some time ago. On his way, he will contact other survivors (both gangs and singles) and explore entire restoring areas of Washington D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland. The game offers countless progress opportunities, so the gameplay is overloaded with various features including types of customization, numerous conversations with NPC’s, side quests – everything that an average player is going to face.

Fallout 3 reviews and comments
Immersion:
«Fallout 3» offers a high level of immersion thanks to its post-apocalyptic world, detailed locations, and green, misty atmosphere. You immediately immerse yourself in the wasteland atmosphere, exploring various places, encountering dangers, and meeting different characters and local fauna.
Role-playing game:
Extensive opportunities for character development, including 7 primary skills and 13 perks that affect the character. You can tailor your character to your play style. Choose your path, pick sides in conflicts, and influence the surrounding world.
Interesting quests:
The game offers quests of various types, including main storyline quests and side quests. There may not be many, but these local stories are written quite well. They will make you think and make decisions.
Poor shooting mechanics:
One of the game's drawbacks is the not very precise and not very convenient shooting system. The shooting mechanics can pose some difficulties for players. Fortunately, the «VATS» system makes the task easier and compensates for this drawback, at least in part.
200 years after the Great War, and life hasn't improved much:
This aspect raises some questions about the realism and logic of the game world. After so many years since the catastrophe, one would expect the world to at least partially recover. However, the game presents a post-apocalyptic world where many aspects of life remain practically unchanged.
Metro, metro, metro:
The metro is presented in the form of numerous branches, each leading to different locations. However, due to the large number of branches and variety of locations, the metro sometimes confuses and irritates.
Obstacles hinder freedom:
Due to the presence of various blockages, debris, and other obstacles, the player often cannot go directly and ends up back in the metro! Such obstacles constantly limit freedom of movement.
Gloomy green «Fallout»:
Greenish tones are used to convey radioactivity and destruction, creating an atmosphere of alienation and danger. Yes, the game shouldn't be as bright as the subsequent parts, but over time, the atmosphere becomes oppressive.
Typical building and interior design:
Every office, factory, or power station was the same. At some point, I began to wonder if I had been here before.
But in conclusion, I want to say that the game is good as the first project in the 3D variation. I haven't played «New Vegas» and «Fallout 4» yet, but I've read that all aspects in them are perfected, and the shortcomings are minimized.
