About

Shelter is a game where the main character is a badger who takes his cubs from one place to another.

Gameplay

On the way the cubs need to be fed - five cubs regularly want to eat. Food for them can be obtained by hunting or finding - if it's fruits and vegetables.

Cubs need to be protected from dangers. Difficulties and threats along the way are numerous - these are predatory birds, other predators, forest fires.

The goal of the game is to lose as little cubs as possible on the way to a new place to live.

Episodes

The game consists of several episodes. In each episode, the conditions differ from those of other episodes.

For example, in the first and last episodes, the badger and her cubs have to go through open spaces. In these open spaces, they are threatened by birds of prey that can dive down and take someone away if the badgers stay long in the open.

The action of one of the episodes occurs at night, when visibility is limited. In this darkness, badgers can get frightened of sudden calls and run away in different directions, disappear from the mother's field of visibility, they will have to be looked for.

Another episode is a river crossing.

Sequel

The game has a sequel, where you need to play for a female lynx. Unlike the first game, in the sequel it is possible to grow those who can be brought to a new shelter, and then they will become the next generation operating in the game.

Shelter reviews and comments

I think i did fall asleep at some point...

Shelter is a very short one (about 30-40 Minutes), but also a very intense Game. You play a badger's mother, a Badger father, who has to take care of 5 Badger children. The constant Hunger of the Young pushes you further and further ahead. But once you really closed the Little ones into the Heart, the first Dangers come. In doing so, the Game does not expose Penalties once one dies, the Game just goes on. The only Reason we protect the Animals is: It's our Little ones. One thing I lost in the Night, another was too far away and didn't come back (no Idea why Fox or River) and one disappeared into the Waves. Nevertheless, one carries on, with the Thought: "At Least the two Should still survive!" (Do they then also ^ ^) Pro: + matching Graphics + emotional Level + good sound Contra:-short Game time (but not even so bad, since then the relatively simple Game principle does not wear out)-Only one End, despite actually perfect Starting position for 6 Ends (ever how many survive)-price Perhaps a little too high (best wait for Discount action) Conclusion: This Game is only recommended under two Conditions: 1.You don't know the Game. Neither as Let's play, nor watched with anyone. Every playful Spoiler greatly diminishes the Gaming Experience. It's just that you don't know the Dangers yet and you're so more Afraid for your Boys. (And that's what the Game is all about) 2.You should be Able to put yourself right into the Game. With the Attitude "my Gütte then die the stop" the Game just doesn't make Sense.

First Of all, This is not a clear Recommendation, because I do have a few Criticisms. The original Game idea, however, rips it out. Shelter is, as I said, a really original Game. One controls a Badger mother and seeks Food for her five Children, who follow her throughout. This creates a really nice Feeling, because you immediately perceive the Badger children as your own Children. The Map is cunning, but it doesn't feel that way. As the Game progresses, you have to avoid some Dangers, and this is where the negative Points unfortunately begin. Unfortunately, the Game is not intuitively understandable in such places, so that even with multiple Play, own Badger children die. This makes you feel unfairly punished because you feel like you can't influence that, which unfortunately has a hugely demotivating effect. The whole Game seems reduced to the Essentials, which is good, including the Graphics and also the Music that does its Part with its guitar riffs. But what is the Essence? Just reducing Polygons and Textures? Shelter aims to recreate the Cycle of Nature through a Family Of Badgers. The Dangers are quite nice, but when the Badger family Was merged, I would have liked a little more; Vlles an Animation of the Mother screaming for her lost Children, or an Animation expressing the Mother's Love for her own Children. In the Course of the Game, unfortunately, no such new input is sometimes received, it is limited exclusively to the Mechanics of finding food and dodging Dangers, which was somehow too little for me for this actually beautiful Game idea. The End is also far too abrupt and seems forced, so did some others, but I do not want to spoil here. Therefore Recommendation: Tending yes, it finally played through Completely out of interest and it is also simply a nice Game, but one should not expect a multi-building and sophisticated Experience.
