Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA reviews and comments
This one blew my expectations out of the water, with stellar combat, good characters and addictive crafting and base building, how could you NOT like it?

Yet another below average stereotyped JRPG full of cliches and sprinkled with cheap teen half-nudity, courtesy of a nation who still has no clue what basic sexual education is.
Dialogues for elementary school children and a story that takes too many hours to even start, let alone be remotely interesting.
Visuals of a PS2 era style, half assed upscaled for PC. Horrid map design and the map itself is near useless.
Openworld only in name, the player is forced in a linear path, blocked by the classic natural obstacles of skill based options that will unlock later, giving a reason to revisit zones, often for new characters to recruit and open more zones in a boring grind-loop. Typical "kill 10 rats" fetch quests. Another concept the japanese have no clue how to evolve beyond a boring and tedious task.
Cheap flashback storytelling with single monochromatic sketches.
The good parts are the combat and the skill evolution, the base expanions and raids. Some decent music tracks. Nothing more.
Too long, grindy and offering absolutely nothing new to the genre.

A fantastic Game. I was convinced on all Points. More on that below.

-As usual from the Ys Series, you have a Top Action RPG here Again Gameplay technology WHICH you can buy blindly as a Fan of the Genre. The Combat System is still Fun even after 100 Hours.
-The Story appealed to me more like every Game in The Tales of series, for example, although I really love them, even a current Ni No Kuni 2 just stinks off.
-Rarely have I seen a Main Character grow so much to the Heart, especially Dana.
I can only hope that at some point within the Ys Series you will see them again. From the Level Of sympathy, she's with Me on a Level with Adol, if not over it.
-The Soundtrack is fantastic. He fits every Corner. The Mood of Adventure is conveyed better than in many AAA J-and ARPGs.
-The ' True Ending ' is not hidden behind a New Game + or behind overleveled Bosses as in many other Games of the Genre. You just have to do all The Sidequests (200 Reputation)-BOOM-True Ending unlocked.
(True Ending = Epilogue Level with own Boss After the actual Head final boss)
In Summary: After Ys Seven and Memories of Celceta, a consistent Continuation of Ys, towards more Story and full-fledged JRPG. Ys 9 can be continued like this.

It was supposed to Come out on September 12, 2017, in the End it came out on April 16, 2018. As I noticed, the entire English Localization had to be completely remade. The original English Localization seemed like straight from Google Translate or Babelfish. In Addition, there were even the most massive Performance Problems with the PC Version.
When the Game came out, you had to ask yourself what NISA had been working on for a 3/4 Year. Crashes, FPS Problems, Graphics Glitches in all Areas with special Lighting effects, the BGM appeared extremely compressed and dull, and there are even said to have been gamebreaking Bugs.
Personally, I was affected by the release of crashes, also due to the "Disco Effects" resulting from Lighting effect Glitches in some Areas, in addition, I could not play in Full Screen Because this Caused a Blur effect on wall Textures, which is easy For Me Nausea caused. It was the Madness.
In the End, after 3 Weeks and various delivered Bug fixes and Patches on the part of NISA, I was finally able to play properly, at least as long as I played in the Borderless Fullscreen and with Map Shadows-Off. Never Had another Crash or Graphic Error.
The only Thing to stress positively here is the following: New Bug Fixes and Patches came almost daily, and within a Month it ran "okay" for most People and they could play halfway normally. Why this did not happen between 12.09.2017 and 16.04.2018, No Idea ... = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = A super Game with meserabler PC Port. The negative Reviews here should be more on the Front Page of NIS America, not under the Game.
Anyone who has interest should test the Game 2 Hours, and in Case of Problems then refound. It is at the Moment a 50:50 chance whether it runs at a problem-free or not. Has everyone have to decide for themselves whether they will take the Risk. I have not regretted a Second despite the technical Problems. If I missed a great Game with a fantastic Story.
