Not the worst game I've played, but very short and not great interface. I did like the sound effects and visuals though. But the game does not offer a lot to enjoy.

Graphically one of the most beatiful games I ever played. The game world was really great and the story was also outstanding.

On my first Steam review of the Game: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Game Time: ~ 3-8 Hours This Review deals with the normal Version of the Game. I haven't tested The redux version at the Time of The Review.
History In The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, the Player takes on the Role of Detective Paul Prospero. After receiving a Letter from the young Ethan Carter, he makes his way to Red Creek Valley. Once There, he finds out that the Boy has disappeared. Paul embarks on a Journey to find Ethan and uncover the Mystery of this mysterious Place. He delves deeper and Deeper into the Events and past of this World and its Inhabitants and slowly but surely also gets to know the dark Side of the Place.
Graphic & Technique In addition To the Story, an important Factor is the Graphics of the Game. The Game, based on the Unreal Engine 3, is graphically a Force. Despite this stunning Graphics, the Game is going really well on my System with i7 6700K, Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 and 16GB OF DDR4 RAM. With very high Settings, I always reach a Frame Rate of 70-90, sometimes even up to 110 Frames per Second. Even on my old, significantly weaker office calculator, the Game still ran at around 30 Frames per Second at low Settings.
Atmosphere and Music At one Point, I look down from a Bridge into a Valley through which a River meanders, bordered by a Forest that glows in autumnal Colors in the Light of the setting sun. At the other Point, I trudge toward a small Church through a Gloomy forest, gated By Floor fog.
This is Supported by a consistently sovereign Soundtrack, which contributes to the Atmosphere.
Exactly dise atmosphere is what forces me to linger in many Places, to look at the fantastic Scenery and to marvel at what a Game is Capable of.
Control & Gameplay The most open Game world can be explored very pleasantly with a Mouse and Keyboard as well as a Controller. In General, the Control is reduced to the most necessary. In addition to Buttons for sprinting or interacting, there are hardly any other relevant Chair elements.
Conclusion But How do you rate this Game?
A short but gripping and exciting Story, a breathtaking graphic, as well as a mysterious and creepy but also exhilarating and beautiful Atmosphere.
I often paused to enjoy the View for a moment and take one or the other Screenshot for my Desktop Background. The Story captivated me about 4 Hours in front of the Screen and remained exciting until the End. Even away from the Path, I was able to discover many Stories by chance and thus delve deeper into the Matter Of this World and understand the Connections that Make Red Creek Valley exactly this place that it is now.
Unfortunately, the Story doesn't really offer much Scope and also one or the other Game Mechanics seems repetitive after some Attempts.
Behind The Vanishing of Ethan Carter hides a small Treasure, which should probably not escape any indie horror, puzzle and Adventure.
Final Review: 8/10 This Review alone includes my own Opinion on the game being treated and may differ greatly from a different Opinion. Also, I am not an Expert in this Field, but just want to share my Impressions and hope to have helped others in their Decision
