A Dream That is Not My Reality

"This reminds me of my childhood dream... By now it should've been within reach... But the truth is, it's a dream that is not my reality."

The game is set in the year 2015. 5 years prior, in Wakayama of Japan, a tragic event unfolded. Kazuaki Kikuchi, life-long-friend of our protagonist, Yuuto Hoki, is murdered with little to no trace of the perpetrator. The case grew cold and was closed within the year after no leads or developments. This tragedy causes turmoil between Yuuto and his friends. In a matter of weeks, everyone went their separate ways. In the present day Yuuto is now an 18-year-old third year approaching his last semester of high school. His childhood friend, Hanako Shimuhara and her siblings, move back in town. Hanako and Yuuto team up to rekindle their past friendships and bring justice to the killer. Meanwhile they'll help each other with their studies and support each other every step toward uncovering the secrets of Kazuaki's death and their last 100 days of high school.

 "A Dream That Is Not My Reality" is a visual novel with more than just reading. The interactive element of the game makes it similar to an RPG. Here are some of the mechanics you can expect to see in the future

• Explore the world and school with a point-click screen
• Debate and rebuttal arguments with your teammates on evidence you found on your latest exhibition to see if the suspect is the one who murdered Kazuaki.

Meet the Characters Yuuto Hoki

"I want to reunite everyone, I really do... But we've all grown apart. I can't do anything to change that."

Yuuto Hoki is a washed-up baseball player, who was considered the best in high school baseball prior to his injury. Although past events have led to him to becoming stoic and cold, he continues to possess his sense of justice he had in his childhood.

Hanako Shimuhara

"I can't imagine how he'd feel if he saw how things are... I must follow his footsteps and try to resolve it, like he always did!"

Hanako Shimuhara moves back to her hometown after her dad was traded back to his old professional team. She puts others first and is always looking out for those she cares about. A girl that was once meek, timid, and reserved is now outgoing, confident and extroverted. She encourages others and does everything she can to make sure everyone is happy.

Ichika Tokuda

"I can't let that man go another day without atoning for what he did. I can't sleep at night knowing nothing has been done to punish him."

Ichika is the daughter of the best detective in the Kansai region. She is the VP of the newspaper club and takes it seriously. She's a diligent, well-mannered and composed girl. She has been investigating Kazuaki's case behind closed doors, despite the odds, and continues work hard to find clues.

This game is still very early in its development! Most characters have voice lines, but some are still a work-in-progress. Let me know what you think of the game and what you would like to see in the future! Feedback is always welcome! I hope to publish this game to steam one day, and I have lots planned for it and most of the story is mapped out, it's a matter of typing it into existence. In the future I intend to add in a fully interactive investigation minigame where you use the stats you've gained and use your bonds with your friends to your advantage!
