A Vampyre Story reviews

Owners of 32-bit systems, if you are followers of adventure games with cartoon aesthetics, biting humor, and reading subtitles scrolling at all speeds, you have here a marvel to not miss! An original storyline, full of hilarious dialogues and incongruous situations, in line with the best point & click games. The voices are very successful (although sometimes a little garish), the atmosphere is mesmerizing, and the difficulty quite varied. An excellent acquisition. For 64-bit owners, you will encounter many technical concerns, including compatibility with the steam launch system (a return to the systematic Office as soon as the game is launched). For the luckiest among you, you will have to launch the game "by hand" via the "main. exe" file directly from the game's installation directory. Otherwise, this acquisition will not serve you anything because the game does not start, or crashes very quickly. Which is all the more frustrating as this game is very good.

So under my Win7-64, the Game doesn't want to start right out of Steam. However, there is a Detour for a manual Start via EXE. Of the many Methods described on the Net, the following has worked for me ... 1.) In the Explorer to the Directory "Steam\SteamApps\common\A Vampyre Story\game" switch 2.) The File "libpandadx9.dll" renamed "libpandadx9.dll2" = > The Game no longer finds It and then uses OpenGL instead of DX9. In the Cutscenes, only the Sound is emitted here. 3.) "main.exe" start 4.) In the Main Menu Then set Anti-Alias to 0 and Game leave 5.) The File "libpandadx9.dll2" renamed "libpandadx9.dll" = > Cutscenes run again 6th) Link for "main.exe" generated where you want to start the Game (E.g. Desktop) 7.) About playing the Link Unfortunately, the Game still doesn't start out of Steam (Blackscreen and finished shortly thereafter). This May be due to the Steam overlay, which Steam tries to load with the main.exe (there are corresponding handles entries even with the screen overlay disabled if you look in The ProcExplorer). At the direct Start of main.exe, these are not present and the Game is on. Furthermore, the Game is unfortunately only in English on Steam at The Moment. Let's see if the German Localization will be implemented here at some point. If you like Point & Click adventures and don't fear any existing Launch problems, I can recommend the Game. Habs got me in the current Halloween sale. However, I wouldn't pay the full Amount for it (precisely because of the Problems with different newer versions of Windows).
