Product received for free Early Access Review tl; dr: Rating: 7/10-Buy recommendation AI War 2 is a rather unfussy but solid Real-time strategy game. Fans of the Genre are offered many Hours of Fun here, especially for the Price. However, You also have to invest some Time and you can't expect a Stellaris.
* Solid Real-time strategy * Replay value through randomly generated Cards * a Lot of Unit types * you can already notice that the Game is in early access * you don't play the Game because of Graphics and Sound/music * in large part the Game mechanics are not explained and have to Be worked out * a Series of small Bugs and Nickiness are still in the Game Gameplay: I have to admit, first I didn't want to get quite warm with the Game. Although the Game has a very short Tutorial explaining how to build Units and take other Systems, 95% of the Game Mechanics are not explained. Does everything not Sound very positive at first? Despite many Blemishes, the Motivation to play this Game is surprisingly high. But let me explain ...
AI War 2 is a classic Sci-fi Real-time strategy game that involves cleaning up a randomly generated star map of enemy AI units and bringing the Star Systems under their own Control. In this respect, the Game does not go into the Depths. There are Neither individual Planets and thus a Form of Micromanagement, nor any Way to create Units from individual Components themselves. You can build Room Docks, have different Defense Platforms and then have ships produced En masse in the Docks to attack other Systems. Once the enemy Control Center has been destroyed in a System, you can build a Colony ship and claim the System for yourself. So far, so puristically simplistic.
Even so, the Game is Fun and it's often hard to tear yourself off. For one thing, there's the Game Mechanics that with every Action you take against the AI, a Value rises that makes AI increasingly dangerous. More enemies are spawn Attacking Border systems, attacking more dangerous Enemies, sometimes even spawn deep in the actually safe systems Wormholes through which Enemies then pour themselves.
In Addition, there are many Unit types with their own special Abilities. And in enemy Systems, you can often find new ship or Defense Platform Types. There are special Facilities that can be hacked to hire Mercenaries or to be able to produce enemy ship types yourself. Or delete a Ship type from AI'S Manufacturing Databases. There are Stations that, if captured, lower or increase the Threat value.
For the Game to come across extremely old baking, it gets a lot right. However, there are a Number of Trifles that are not working well yet. For Example, it sometimes happens that one has selected units, sent them somewhere, then chooses other Units, wants to send them elsewhere and then determines that the first Units were not selected and both Stacks of Ships to the second Destination to fly. So I lost some Ships when I first ordered Defensive Ships somewhere, then sent Scouts far behind enemy Lines, and then watched my Defenses in the Duck march through enemy Systems to the same Destination How the Scouts wanted to fly and, of course, were disassembled. However, the Game is still in the early access and I am sure that such Errors will be ironed out quickly.
All in all, the Game is Fun and you can feel a "even these system conquer" effect. I would appreciate that you can well and gladly spend 20 Hours or more in the Game.
Graphics & Sound: The Graphics in the Game are very purist and old baked. Watching From the look alone, you couldn't tell if the Game was from 2008 or 2018. The Music is also of rather simple Quality and starts to annoy at some point. The Sound Effects are okay as far as that, but sometimes play without knowing what the Sound should point out now. The English Language output is also appropriate, but sometimes has quite idiosyncratic Dialects.
Technology: The Game does not place great Demands on the System and should run smoothly on older Computers.
Price: Currently, the Game in the early access does not cost €17,000 without a Discount. Even if the Game is not perfect, this Prize is very fair. I've been entertained significantly less for more Money.
