Apex Aeons

Made for the Xanderjam: Survival of the Fittest.

Mechanically, it involves magical monsters battling it out for survival and evolving/adapting as they fight by learning new abilities.

Narratively the fights are framed as part of a death game where Aeons (the spirits of mythical monsters) bind themselves to mages summoned from different worlds.  Last paring standing earns a Wish for the mage and a chance to be incarnated as a living creature for the Aeon.

If you don't particularly care about the framing, you're in good company.  Neither do the protagonists.

NOTE: Screen is resizable and the core game is playable on even small screens or unintended aspect ratios if you find that more comfortable.  But some features of the UI still look strange on certain ratios so (if possible) play on the default 1920:1080 the game should launch in.
