Backwood Prowler

Backwood Prowler is a vertical danmaku shooter inspired by Touhou Project. It was developed in my spare time as a labor of love, and will always remain a freeware game. It features a soundtrack by yours truly.

This is the demo version, including the first three stages. The full game will be released at a later date.

Story

Dr. Vivian Claravine, a nurse at a small hospital in the coastal town of Ravenport, is awakened to the sound of strange animals crying in the night. Setting out to investigate, she is soon attacked by the creatures.

With her mechanical heart, Vivian is able to control the flow of blood through her body. She can fire it as projectiles at her enemies, and recollect their blood to heal herself, allowing her to make short work of the odd forest monsters.

As she trudges deeper into the woods, Dr. Claravine aims to discover who created the creatures, and for what purpose.

Controls

• Arrow Keys: Move
• Left Shift: Focus (slow down movement to navigate dense bullets)
• Z: Shoot
• X: Bomb (damage enemies + temporary immunity. Press quickly enough after taking a hit to deathbomb, saving yourself a heart)
• C: Heal (hold to regain a heart)
• (Menus) Z/Enter: Confirm
• (Menus) Arrow Keys: Navigate
