Ball'N'Flag

Ball'N'Flag is a little game for NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) I have developed in less 2 days (I think few hours). It was personal challenge to create a game on NES (or FAMICOM) with no complex tools and minimum time (this is my own gamejam).

Most of NES games are developed in complicated assembly language.

Ball'N'Flag is coded in BASIC language, yes BASIC, the old good language available on most common platforms !

I want to improve my game and publish tutorials to show you how to quickly and easily create games on FAMICOM.

WITH FEW MORE DOLLARS

I you help me and send me few dollars, i will find the time and motivation to improve my game.

Here are the improvements you will get in the future : 

Add a real start screen (for the moment, there is only a screen that shows controls).

Add music and sound effects (no music or sound effects now)

Add a kind of "making of", I will publish the source code of the game (with all the comments, tools, tutorials, etc...), so you can modify the game or create easily your own game !

Build prototype FAMICOM cartridges with customs PCB and stickers (I have some contacts and infos of Chinese cartridge manufacturers).

Add special edition of the game (with the names of all contributors from Itch.io)

Etc...

HOW TO PLAY

You need to install NES emulator on your platform (computers, smartphones, others consoles). Ball'N'Flag runs on all available emulators.

Ball'N'Flag runs also on real NES or FAMICOM with the help of a linker.

I personaly test it on a Everdrive N8 (latest firmware) from Krikzz (big thanks to Krikzz), it works also on Powerpak from RetroUSB.

The goal is simple : you control a ball in a random maze, you must get the flag before the times expires, be careful be fast ! You earn 1 bomb each completed level. You can destroy the blocks with bombs.

CONTROLS

It's quite simple, the game starts automatically, be ready.

You move the ball with the pad, press A button to use a bomb and destroy blocks, that's all.
