BasketBelle is an experimental 2D basketball-based platformer. Each Chapter of the game uses the mechanics and idea of basketball in a different way. At one point you might be dribbling inside the intestines of a purple blob creature. At others, you're likely to be dunking above the clouds in front of the Parisian moon.

A dynamic soundtrack and unique cardboard visuals help tell the story of a sister who must be saved through the power of basketball.Key Features
  • Dunk, dribble, and crossover through 8 Chapters spanning throughout the impromptu courts of Paris
  • Each Chapter takes the mechanics of basketball and applies them in different ways. Some chapters are more action, some are more puzzle. And then there are the strange chapters.
  • Music is tied directly to the gameplay, though it's all passively controlled. For example, every time you dribble, you hear a bass hit. Shoot the ball, and the percussion stops.
  • Visuals in the game are a unique mix of cardboard and color, every scene popping off the screen.

BasketBelle reviews and comments

BasketBelle is a title that is difficult to categorize, halfway between the game of platforms, the game of sport and the adventure game, it is an Opus quite innovative and worthy of interest. As you teach your little sister to play basketball, she disappears. You start looking for it through 8 short chapters but each time bring a new way to integrate basketball into gameplay. At first we will face a platform-puzzles combination where you will have to unlock the door to the next level by marking a basket. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=509934417 controls are very easy to handle and you will use the directional arrows to move and slide to the ground and the X button to jump or mark a basket. In these phases the main difficulty will come from the fact that one cannot jump without throwing the ball and that it will be necessary, once the ball recovered, to reach the basket without jumping. One is therefore faced with a weak difficulty and a little reflection will suffice to reach the next chapter. There will be a question of beating a creature during a basketball game. This one will not hurt you, will not try to kill you but simply to hinder your travels and prevent you from scoring. The game is not punitive, the game over does not exist. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=509934446 one will then be entitled to an aerial chapter in which a bird is to be pursued and the clouds and lightning must be avoided in order not to be slowed down; a chapter where we will Dodge debris in an ascent of the Eiffel Tower... Etc. The gameplay is so varied, the game mechanics are reinvented to each new chapter and we escape the repetition and boredom during the small hour of play that BasketBelle offers. Artistically speaking the game is quite unique, dominated by the mauve color and made with cardboard with thick contours, one has the impression that a child has carved and coloured characters and makes them come alive. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=509934390 this childish design with soft notes sticks perfectly to the scenario focused on brotherly love and the permissive side of the game. Also, BasketBelle enjoys a rhythmic OST with electronic accents that accompanies well the different phases of play and that adapts even to our actions by integrating a bass sound to each dribble for example. You can listen to the full album here [onemrbean.bandcamp.com]. You understand, BasketBelle is an experimental and innovative game on many aspects, a small hour of play that changes the ordinary and that is well worth a look.
