Battle City
About
Battle City (バトルシティー, Batoru Shitī) is a multi-directional shooter video game for the Family Computer produced and published in 1985 by Namco. It is a successor to Namco's 1980 Tank Battalion, and would be succeeded itself by the 1991 Tank Force.
An arcade version for the Nintendo VS. System would follow, and the game would eventually end up with the Virtual Console release for the Wii and Wii U. There was also a related Game Boy game of the same name dating back to 1991, which was also published by Namco but developed by Nova Games.

Battle City reviews and comments
It's fun. You play as a yellow tank that has to defend an eagle. Not the actual animal, mind you, it's a symbol. There must be some hidden, deep meaning there but my brain refuses to think further. The gameplay is simple: you see tank, you shoot, unless you're playing with two people, then it gets rather complicated. As in, you see a tank that is not your friend, you shoot. Yep, pretty hard I know but you get used to it.
The concept and everything is pretty simple, but I like how there are different tanks to add variety, and the power ups are cool.
Overall, rating out of 100:
Story: 0
You're a tank defending his base.
Gameplay: 30
It's solid even by today's standard, even if a bit outdated. Exploding things will never NOT be fun.
Graphics: 10
It's ok.
Sound/Music: 0
NO. NO. NO. NOOOOOO.
If you think construction noise is annoying, imagine that but 8 bits and tuned up to 11.
This leaves Battle City with an explosive 40 out of 400! Boom.

«Better with friends»
One of the best arcade games for two players. Period. Me and my brother spent countles hours (getting back to level 253 with no save or password mechanic is something of the maniac level of dedication) so for me it is still incomprehensible that are no remakes of this simple yet engaging game.
