I'm not very into wave shooters, I owned some as any first Vive user, so I didn't considered Blaster of the Universe a title to buy. I kindly received a key from a friend, I bet in a giveaway on reddit, so I tried the game with almost no expectations and a low interest. What a nice surpise!
The graphical style is peculiar with emphatized vectorial elements, weird geometric weapons and vivid colors: the overall feel is very arcadey so frantic but with some quality on it. I've read a review than said this look amateur, I don't know if this game changed a lot from the start and grow, it looks extremely polished to me.
The game actually is a wave shooter, but is quite tactical and require lot of prediction. Blasters use slow bullets in a way than remind me a lot the great tradition of vertical shoot'em ups, this force you to move A LOT using fully roomscale capabilities with some Matrix style leanings. For this reason, I find this game more enjoyable than most wave stuff and and an healty workout too.
It seems to include unlockable stuff (I've seen a campaign button and another evnironment) and offers also a lot of customizable items for your weapon and your shield. To be honest, the fact those customization are all avaliable from the first minute sounds like a bad idea to me, people love to win stuff. Can't say about longevity, in this kind of games it's very relative to your interest.
