Block Bay
About
Hello! I'm taking one of those online game making courses and our goal this time was to make an Arkanoid style brick-breaking game. Took a few days, but finally have it at a beatable state. In addition, I picked up GIMP and some of my old music software and tried painting a background, drawing sprites and designing music/sfx.
1.0 Notes
- Playable to completion, currently at three levels.
- 3 SFX and 1 Music track.
- 4 block types
- Optimized for 800x600. Unity's player allows for higher and it seems to scale alright, but for the most part higher resolutions are untested.
Future Plans
- Expanded campaign to 50 - 100 levels
- Physics tweaks
- More UI elements and menus
- Mouse control only right now, keyboard/mouse controls eventually.
- Better looking title lives and loss screens -- the one thing I couldn't figure out how to make are fonts.
- Draw New Backgrounds and block sets as we go deeper into the waters of Block Bay while hopefully improving my GIMP skills.
- More music
- Put together a functional story (ideas so far) : Routine visit to Block Bay, area suddenly encased in blocks, some start appearing in the water, there's a ball for some reason, need to go deeper to uncover the secret of Block Bay so you can get out and back home or whatever.
