About

!!! This game is in Early Access which means it is not finished. It really is the best block building game but please understand that there will be missing features and bugs. No updates means I'm working very hard. This is the project of my life, I will never abandon it. !!!

Start with nothing and build an empire. Blockscape is the ultimate block building game.

You are sent to this world to start a new civilization. Explore, gather materials, craft and build.
Build beds and people will move in. Give them food and they will do work for you.

Main features:
  • Fully procedurally generated worlds. Every game looks and plays different.
  • Play the game you want. Blockscape can be played like a survival game, rpg (not available yet), tower defence (not available yet) or like an empire building game. The type of gameplay is based on what you create or do in the game.
  • Crafting. Create furniture, tools, weapons, armor, materials and more.
  • NPCs. Create beds and people will move in to your buildings. Give them food and they will do work (crafting, planting, harvesting, construction).
  • Hundreds of block types and materials.
  • Everything is a block. Everything in your inventory can also be used as a building block. Even mobs.
  • Electricity. Add electric networks to your buildings to control lights and other components.
  • Water. Add water networks to supply generators and control water components.
  • "Just build" game mode. Gives you infinite resources to build anything you want.

Blockscape reviews and comments

Translated by

Early Access Review * Update January 2017 * After almost 2 Years, I touched the Game again to see if and what happened. Further down, I leave my old Review so it's understandable what the Stand was like back then. Let's move on to the Complaints I voiced at the time: > The Developer Jens had encapsulated himself, it seemed as if he had given up development. What about today? Since the Middle of last Year, he has published regular Updates, sometimes weekly in recent Months. So The Inactivity seems to be over. I can't rate the Communication exactly yet, but judging the Discussions here on Steam and Twitter he is trying hard. > The Game had changed a lot, the Changes seemed like a Step back. I am now divided Here. Although I thought the realistic Mode was better back then, as there are just so many strong Block-embossed (yes I know the Game is called Blockscape) Games. After a While, however, I got used to the new Style. In expirement Mode, you can also play the voxel mode if you don't like it (but I don't suspect it will be developed). Through NPC and Mobs is also finally more living present. > I had advised against Buying and did not recommend the Game. I haven't put That much Game time into the "new" Version yet. But unlike back then, it seems like it's moving forward. I came across a few Bugs, but nothing big. The World still seems a bit empty and in need of improvement, so I still find the Price of €20 too much for that. But If it is on Offer, then it is worth it. After this Update, I change my negative Review, to a Positive. Although I still see a lot of Work here, a lot has already been done. Let's Hope it sticks with it. I remain a bit sceptical yet, but for sandbox fans, it's worth recommending. * Old Review of March 2015 * Don't be put off by the few Minutes of Play, I spent tens of Hours in the Game, just not within Steam. I was very involved in the Community and had a lot to be involved in through my Support, for a certain Time I even administered the Website of Blockscape, was Founder of the German Blockscape Group and actively created Textures for the Game. Now you would think that someone like me would have to recommend the Game. Unfortunately, no, since the Inventor has so said closed himself away. Development stalled a Year ago and communication became less and Less. So far, this has not been otherwise, the only Response you can get now are a few Screenshots of a Game that has nothing to do with the original Blockscape. Everyone who was active in the Community and from the Beginning asked for Feedback, but there was never another Answer. The Game itself had Potential, only the Developer decided otherwise. Assumes the next Update (presumably in 2019) looks like Minecraft. I advise off Buying, I don't see any Point in Supporting something that has been advertised with empty Promises. I can immediately squeeze my Money into the hands of the next Politician. Seriously €20for the Nonsense, rather buy something nice, donate it to a charitable Purpose or burn the Money.
