Your life energy is constantly draining, and only way to regain it back is to hit and kill enemies. Are you a vampire? Possibly. Most likely not, because vampires aren't real, dummy. Why would you even think that way? Who do you think you are? 

Although now that I think about it, demonic imps leaping at you with fiery space magic aren't technically considered real either, so why don't you just play the darn game n' decide for yourself                                                                        \(￣︶￣*\))
