Brickz! - Demo Version (ZX Spectrum Next)
About
BRICKZ! is a retro 8-bit brickbusting game written as a companion to the YouTube video demonstrating a game development workflow for bedroom coders.
Although developed for the ZX Spectrum Next, it was written using regular Sinclair BASIC so you won't find any fancy sprites or optimized code here - just quick and dirty programming with simple UDG graphics.
Keep the BONUS counter maxed out to the end of the level to earn a super bonus. Can you beat the high score?
Paddle
Use this to deflect the ball back up toward the bricks.Normal Brick
Hit this to earn the base value of one point plus the current value of the BONUS counter.Power Brick
Hit this to change the ball color and increment the BONUS counter. Also instantly awards 10x the current score award value (base value of one plus the current BONUS counter value).Ball Colors
Increments each time a Power Brick is hit to indicate the current value of the BONUS counter.BONUS Counter
Increments from zero to 5 each time a Power Brick is hit. Resets to zero if you miss the ball.High Score
