Catan: Creator's Edition reviews and comments

However cool the Board game is, this Computer Game isn't nearly as interesting. I played the Game for a few Hours now and didn't end a single Party Without a game Crashes (If this was possible at all. Tip. Saving and Loading often helps). The Duration of The game Is about the Same as in The board game, because the Animations are slow and the Player is constantly closing the Window at the News. However, there is no mention of the important Events. For example, there is the Message "Player XY has played the Progress Card commodity monopoly." OK, Super! Newcomers are wondering what such a monopoly card is. And others wonder what he chose for a Raw Material. None of this is said. Even if a "Hand card" is stolen, you only notice this if you want to build the planned Settlement or City then. There is also no Way to hide repeated Messages, for example, I don't have to Worry every Time about what I can do with a Trader. However, I want to know what the Opponent is doing with it. When the Opponents trade, the "Hand cards" flit Back and forth. So You get a little Overview of who is swapping with whom, but that was it. I could continue to write for a long time. The List of Defects is simply too long. All in all, I am disappointed with this Game and advise against a Purchase. It's just unfinished.

Catan is once again a PC implementation of the most successful Game of the Year board game. The PC Version offers two Campaigns with almost all Extensions, but these were the positive Aspects. It's bad enough that an Online Mutltiplayer is missing, but then the AI Should at least be sensibly ficier. When I play the Board Game against Friends, mistakes happen from time to time, but the AI sometimes just swaps freely for you to feel. And swapping is an extremely important Point at Catan, of all people. Example: AI wants 1 Wood and gives me 1 Clay. Then I swap. Immediately afterwards, the AI wants to regain 1 Clay?!?!? And that's on the same Train. In addition, the AI only plays for itself and does not think any Moves in advance. When Swapping, no attention is paid to the current Score of the Players. Whether someone is short in front of Victory, it is simply cheat. Only with a 7 the Robber is placed with the top Player (mostly). And the Exchange Window is also completely miserable. For example, you don't see the Exchange offers of the Players. If the AI Has opted for exchange Partners, because it offers something better, you can't react to it because you just can't see it. Very big Minus point. All in all, you can't bring up a reasonable Game like that. And by the way, it annoys with increasing playing time if you can't skip or accelerate the Distribution of raw Material yields. For example, had a Game of the Campaign against 3 Computer Opponents. Then three times the same Number was diced and 12 Raw Materials were distributed each time. And for each card distributed, you have to calculate about 1 Second. It is suitable for a Round in between, but the PC Version (even without Online Multiplayer), released just over fifteen years ago, was already far better in this Relationship and you could even zoom in directly into the Settlements or Cities at that time and saw a little Conscious. Not even that's what the Creator's Edition manages. And when I'm at it: The Fanfare played when someone has the longest Trade Route is animal loud and extremely annoying ... Far too little and absolutely no Recommendation. Too bad:( PS.: Had two Crashes in about 25 games played.
