About

Celestian Tales: Old North is a refreshing take on the classic turn-based Japanese style RPG. Scrapping away the cliché of a destined person or a boy/girl-saving-the-world, the story is tailored for a mature audience and questions the bare morals of a human being. Will you do anything to survive? Will you be steadfast in defending your faith and beliefs? Or will you let yourself be corrupted, little by little, in the name of greater good?

The First of the Celestian Tales 3 Part Series, Old North is full of lush hand-painted environments, emotive portraits, memorable characters and a sprawling engaging moralistic storyline that is told through the eyes of six protagonists. The actions you perform and the decisions you make in Celestian Tales: Old North will carry over to the next installment of the series.

Experience what it's truly like to bear the responsibilities of a hero in the beautifully hand-drawn Old North. Take on the role of one among six young nobles, learning your way of knighthood and assisting the lords you serve. When an external force threatens the land, you find yourself swept in the tides of war where the deadliest enemies are those among your own ranks.

Featuring a turn-based combat system with plenty of character and party customization options, Celestian Tales allows you to play the game at your own pace in your own style. Enter the first decade of this epic three-game series and see for yourself what sets it apart.Features

Celestian Tales: Old North reviews and comments

Translated by

A Lot of Wind around nothing? I first Heard about Celestian Tales: Old North in the Spring of 2015. The Idea, the Story of Friends who are supposed to grow up in a medieval fantasy world and make important Decisions along the way, sounded good enough to pique my Interest. Nevertheless, I have been waiting for a Sale, as it became clear from other Reviews that the Game offers a maximum of 10 Hours of Story-and unfortunately only this one! There Are no minor quests at all, only hidden Medals have to be found, which once together unlock a secret Boss fight. At the Beginning, one Selects one of the 6 Companions, which one then controls in the Course of History. There is an Individual Start to each of the Characters, as well as a few Conversations that are only available to them. True to form, everyone has their own Closing Scene. With a total of 2 More disputes, we must occasionally win turn-based Battles that use an outdated but not equally bad System. It is Interesting to note that the Charas themselves do not have a Level, but only the Group as a whole. Each Time the Group Ascends a Notch, 3 of the 6 Charas are given a new Ability (passive or active). Which of these are used in Combat is up to the Player, as he can manage them individually in the Menu for each Character. This results in different Strategies for combat. However, it was negative to me that at least one of the Characters has a Moveset, which renders them extremely useless. What a pity! The World of CT: ON attracts with a lot of written Lore, but unfortunately not to Explore. The few Levels are very limited, small and clever. Few Places on the big Worldmap are actually visited. There are no Optional Locations. The Music is nothing special, it hurts in the Ears rather than dragging One into the Game world. The Graphics can also disturb, because you can often not see where it goes (mainly in the Cities). There is little to be said about the Story itself, as it is scarcely present. A Threat from the North threatens to annihilate everything. Not the most original Scenario, but good. But I can say without spoiling anything that the End of the Story is exceedingly unsatisfactory. Not because it leaves questions unanswered, but because it doesn't make Sense. Unfortunately, for this Reason alone, I cannot recommend this Game, even though I was originally very much looking forward to this Gaming Experience. For my first Run, by the way, it took me 8 Hours, even though I trained up to the maximum Level and improved almost all the Weapons. If I now consider playing the Game again for the other Achievements, I think that will go a whole Lot faster, as I think I can just skip a lot of the Dialogues. I would definitely avoid The Full Price of a Purchase and actually the Game too, unless you just have nothing else to gamble on.
