You can only perform actions if you have the corresponding trait! You can obtain that trait by picking up the correct genes.

In Cellscape you are but a mere cell trying to survive. You can collect genes to add to your DNA that will give you traits, both positive or negative. Since you can only have a fixed number of genes, picking up more genes will cycle the genes which will cause your traits change drastically.
