Chronicle of Innsmouth reviews

As a Lovecraft fan, of course, I couldn't resist. Chronicle of Innsmouth is a classic Point & Click adventure that you can see and feel in its Love for Monkey Island & Co. What I still thought was very good was that one stuck very much to the Novel. However, I have a single Criticism of this otherwise wonderful Game: Adventure players are not really grateful for action sequences, which unfortunately exist at the End of the Game. All right, who has someone on Hand who frees one of them and quickly helps you out of the Hotel room and through the dark Alleys! I would have given up on a suspected other. But definitely a really brilliant Game, which I can recommend from the bottom of My soul! I would be very happy to see more in this Direction!

This Game really represents-as noted elsewhere-a nice Mix of an old LucasArts adventure and a Lovecraft story. I had a lot of Fun about three-quarters of the season, the Puzzles are befitting the Story, not too heavy and there is hardly any pixel hunting. In the End, however, there is a Section that represents a Series of Quick-time events. A small Mistake and you can start the Reaction test all over again (there is an Autosave before). In my Opinion, such Reaction tests do not belong in an Adventure and it spoiled the Fun of the Game. If you want to be like me, you should leave your Fingers off the Game-for everyone else it's worth a Look, because until then adventure/Lovecraft fans feel quite well entertained.

Lucas Arts Adventure meets Lovecraft Cosmos. To whom these two Terms are enough to become clairvoyant (and I assume that most People who end up here with at least one of the two symphatize) are told that you can't do so much wrong here. Optics and Gameplay could be straight from the early 90s and the Game is packed with References from the Lovecraft universe. Pickman, The Cats of Ulthar and, of course, the Namesake Innsmouth are all more or less represented. However, I would like to issue a small Warning: The one with the classic Gameplay applies only to a Large part of the Game. Towards the Middle and End of the Game there are two Passages that break with the genre-typical Mechanics and try to get some Action in the Action. In itself, I want to bring some Variance to the Gaming Experience, but the said Sequences in themselves were frusty rather than fun for me personally. It doesn't take anything Like that for me personally in the Kind of Game. This has diminished the positive Overall Impression somewhat but not destroyed and for the not too high Price you can start the nostalgic Trip to Innsmouth.
