Clu Clu Land (1984) reviews and comments
This is a confusing one. You play as a... Uhhh.
Sentient orange? Yeah that must be it. And you're trying to... I dunno what you're supposed to do, honestly. You can grab and spin and sometimes coins appear? Other times some flags and bouncy nets.
I really don't know, but grabbing the balls (heh) and spinning around is pretty fun as a mechanic, I just wish it was implemented differently because the levels SUCK.
The controls change whether you're facing horizontally or vertically so it gets confusing, and there are TWO enemies and one portal on the center that kills you, on the first level. So this game's pretty hard.
I think it could be a lot better if it wasn't designed like that. Basically, remove 90% of the game and just leave the bouncy mechanics. Bounce, bounce, bounce.
Overall, rating out of 100:
Story: 0
None.
Gameplay: 5
The grabbing and bouncing is pretty fun, not gonna lie. But the enemies doing a hitkill on you and a portal? Nah. No amount of bouncing will make up for that.
Okay maybe if there was more bouncing it'd make up for it. But it doesn't. So it's bad.
Graphics: 10
The graphics are bouncy.
Sound/Music: 5
It actually has music, and it doesn't make me want to rip my eyes off so I can't hear it anymore. Well maybe because I didn't play it for more than five minutes, my opinion could change.
This leaves the game with a 20 out of 400! Even though the rating was higher than it should be, it's only for superficial reasons. It's not worth playing it.
