Group shot! With this evaluation I will write down both the volumes 1 & 2 as well as the 3 of which I kickstarté the physical version.
Corona blossom, therefore, a series that comes to us from Sekai project, Studio that has accustomed the freaks of Visual novels to games of a quality at top-level (cf: if my heart had wings, grisaia no kajitsu...). Bah this one is no exception, whether in the background or in the forms (round and fluffy, if you see...).
For once, we are entitled to a story that flirts with Sci-Fi and all its avatars: aliens, mechas, starships and so on. We follow the little life of Keiji, a kind of mechanic specializing in méchas, a small life that is going to be shaken by the arrival on Earth of a young girl half-alien, half-metal alive, that he will take under his wing and baptibe R-NE. Initially little loquacious and anemic, R-NE will gradually adapt to the way of life of humans, start communicating, and reveal extraordinary powers. Then later, a pair of space pirates, of the Nyancotian, will land to kidnap R-NE in order to sell it for what it is, a form of ultra-rare organic metal and therefore very well in the market of Galactic raw materials.
In short, a nice Bazaar, I will say no more to not spoiler more history.
What I can say is that the story is brought in an extremely fluid way, at the right pace and at the right speed-in a VN whose volumes are read in 5-6h each, it seems to me very well dosed and rhythmic, in any case. There is hardly time to be bored during the reading, since even the passages that seem more technical do not weigh too much, and it goes on very often with a gag so we do not fall asleep.
The tone of the narrative is also full of twists, we pass from the emotions sequences to the delirious sequences then to others more dynamic/action, then to other more introspective/philosophical, the all remaining light enough to not lead the trick.
Also note that the cutting of volumes is very well done, we end each on a good big Cliffhanger of families that gives haste to read the next.
On the visual aspect, the game uses the same engine as Nekopara, which offers a dynamic animation of the characters (+ the famous "physic" and its setting of bounciness), and the Chara-design is very neat, very clean, as well as the decorations even though these are a limited hair. But believe me, we don't look at the scenery in a game like this!
CG's are sexy to die for, and I'm not talking about that fan-service (which is relatively heavy, but hey, you know... JAPAN, GUYS!).
A note on the "uncensored patches" and the State of the game vanilla on steam: I was amazed to see that in fact the basic game was not really censored (you can see many things, without any blur or other MOZAIC), which is quite fun when you know the huge Steam hypocrisy about it, always wanting to hide the slightest nipple that exceeds (when you think of the money that the tag "nudity" can stir, without messing around... REVOLTE!). In the end, for having caught the "rated" patch of volume 2, I can say that it does not change anything to the integrity of the story, no CG is altered in any way; in fact, the patch just adds a category apart from the main story in the menu, with 2/3 bonus scenes, so it's completely dispensable.
In short, it also means that for people a little Puritans or that the sight of a higher-than-a-line can shock, that this game will probably not like them...
Finally, let's talk about voice acting, and again, Sekai did the right thing; of course the dubbing is only available in Japanese, but I can say to have enough supper that this one is probably one of the best I've ever heard, with that of the grey Aia. Just listen to speak R-NE to fall under the spell, the voice match completely with the character, to such a point that it is bluing. I also like very much the voices of Kumiko and Yunie, who also stick very well to the Persos.
Brrref, I warmly recommend it to the lovers of VN, because I have to say that I loved the first 2 volumes, and that I await the 3rd with impatience. I choked with laughter during some sequences that curl the cultissime, the voice of R-did melt my heart of stone, and I really look forward to seeing the conclusion of all this, in space if possible and if everything goes at best for R-NE and his friends:>
