Double the Distance

A GMTK 2020 GameJam entry.

We hope you find it different to the usual types of games and if you love or hate the game, let us know! We may improve or expand on the game if we get enough feedback.

Aim of the Game:

Get to the store and back with the correct milk to finish the game. Beware not to get too much dose. Receive 2 Sv (2,000,000 uSv) and you'll die.

 To move the player you can use either the WASD keys

 You can move faster by holding SHIFT key but be careful not to run into a radioactive hotspot as your dose will increase at an alarming rate 

 You can interact with all NPCs by pressing E key

During dialogue you can press E key to skip the text and also to move onto the next sequence of dialogue.

 To pause the game press ESCAPE key and again to unpause.

You can manually resize the window.  Fullscreen toggle enabled.

When browsing the in-game shop (part of the game, not for actual in-game purchasing), press enter to select an item and backspace to exit browsing the shop. This information is displayed on the shop menu too for clarity but incase you like to read the instructions before playing the game then you've got the heads up here.

 A manual is on the floor at the start of the game. If you need to recheck instructions or view credits just stand over it and press the E key. (WARNING: Once you leave the bunker you cannot view the manual in-game)

 If you get any game errors or discover bugs/glitches in the game please copy the error report or make note of what actions were performed to produce the bug/ glitch and paste them into a notepad document, zip it and upload to a file sharing service such as media fire and link us to it so we can fix the issue. Alternatively just contact us on itch.io and we'll try our best to fix the issue during the jam if we can't it'll be fixed once the competition is over.

[UPDATE] We're aware of a lot of bugs and issues with this game. We submitted the project without playtesting - newcomer error. The game is still playable but some of the game endings haven't worked as planned. Oh well, we'll have it working the way we wanted once the competition is over.
