DreadOut reviews

My nostalgia for that style of game initially pulled me into DreadOut, but it wore thin, even with the game's very short running time. DreadOut builds a great atmosphere on the back of Indonesian ghost stories that haven't been mined to death in a million other games. But its gameplay is old, dusty and eventually just not very good. A weak storyline.. if i can even call it storyline since i wasnt able to see any storyline due to bugs and a weak gameplay. Act 0: doesnt trigger the end sequence. Overjumped to Act 1: doesnt trigger the start.. i just run on an "endless street" with texture bugs. Act 2: i was too annoyed to even start it up. So what can i say.. basically it ! would ! be fine and ok to play. It has some really good scary effects in it, but the main problem is, if it is not playable at all i cant say anything good about it. the game has an incredibly short length despite the fact that most of the time you will spend wandering around wondering what exactly to do next, since DreadOut is not very good at telling you what your next objective is. Where the game completely falls flat is, many of the button prompts used to pick up things lying around on the floor, fail to reflect on the screen and none of the objects you are required to pick up actually stand out from the background, so they look as they are part of th e scenery and just get missed.. Walking around "spam-pressing" the button to pick up stuff is not how a game should work. The Engine isnt the best, the gameplay isnt the best, but it would be still good enough to play it.. but ya.. it would.. if it was playable.. but since it isnt, i cant recommend it.. So no... dont buy it until its fixed.. if that ever happens

"DreadOut" is an Asian Third-person horror game. A Teacher and five Students get into strange, terrifying Events. We play Linda, one of the Girls. Our Companions have disappeared. The World seems strangely deserted. Ghosts appear, which amazingly can only be seen on the Display of our mobile Phone. And they attack us ... "DreadOut" is an Exploration Game. In abandoned Buildings, we're looking for Newspaper Clippings, magical Rings or Keys. But "DreadOut" is also a Kind of Shooter. We don't have a classic Weapon, only our Mobile phone, or later a Digital Camera. If the Enemies are at the right distance from our Recording Device, the Display flickers and when we take a Picture at the Moment, the Enemies are annihilated or at least briefly repelled. But "DreadOut" is also a horror game. The World is puzzlingly strange, Surprises and Twists are numerous. For sure, you can never feel. The Story seems tangled and cryptic. But Many Things also remain difficult to de-cipher, since many Indonesian Contexts of meaning have been taken as the Basis. Nevertheless, History has something, and even if the Figures like to react illogically, one likes to take it with you. In General, the Atmosphere, supported by a strong Soundtrack, good Colour choice and terrifying Sceneries is right. Most Opponents are singular and also special. Our Countermeasures, on the other hand, are almost the same. The Game has technical Problems. The Control works in free Areas, but in confined spaces it starts to become inaccurate, which in turn moves the Camera to Get crazy. Fights indoors thus become a Task of Patience. Even with Micro-ucklers, the engine, which seems to be sometimes overwhelmed, is not immune. Glitches are not rare. The Game, with its two Acts and a small History, is not really long. In about four Hours you can be through. The Game is dragged out without Need by the sometimes difficult fight to control and by the always strange Puzzle Setup. At one Point, for example, the right Action is nothing to do. As soon as you press a Button you die. But you have to come To this first when you are just hanging in the Clutches of a 10-Meter Monster. Great Atmosphere, witty Grisly story, excellent Opponent characters, strong Situations and yet weak control and technical Problems. Rating: 8/10 Atmosphere 8/10 Story 7/10 Graphics 8/10 Sound 4/10 Game Mechanics 5/10 Balancing 7/10 Game Pass Conclusion: Great Atmosphere paired with weak Gameplay. 7/10 Overall Rating
