What i like most about this game is the sense of adventure the game gives you. It doesn't hold you by the hand at any point, it doesn't even give you a tutorial for the controls. You have to explore the game completly on your own, but it's not as cryptic as an old NES game, so you'll be able to find your way and will feel smart afterwards.
The game is not just about exploring though, the dungeons feel like there is a new challenge in every room and the enemies require their own mini-tactic to defeat.
If there is one game i could compare this game and the feeling it gives me to, it would be zelda.
Minor technical complaints: the analog stick on the xbox contoller is not supported, so i had to use JoyToKey. Also, after getting a double jump in the game, pressing jump on the controller immediatly triggered the double jump a lot of times. Going fullscreen mode also sets the game behind the taskbar, which i also find quite ennoying.

Elliot Quest is an Action-Adventure Platformer, which catches the Feel of old classics such as Zelda 2, Kid of Icarus mixed with a touch of Metroidvania-Elements. You start as Elliot and go on the main quest to defeat the Zatar, who is threatening your home-island. It starts with easy platforming gameplay: You jump, run and shoot your way through 2D Dungeons, earning XP, collecting Coins, Health and Mana upgrades and fighting against Boss Monsters. Most new areas only get accessable with items you collected on your way, which gives you new abilitys. Following the main quest, the game gets tougher and tougher on the way, but always stays fair. An average gamer should be able to finish the main quest.
But one problem with the game is, that is doesn't take you by your hand to lead you through that main quest. There are so many places to go. And this leads to very much exploration with trial and error to find out if a new path is accessable or not and where it leads to. If your in to exploration this very challenging and fun. If you are looking for a straightforward linear platformer its probably not.
Another Problem of the game is, that it lets you make choices on the way without informing you about the consequences, which can have a huge impact on the game. Making the wrong choices can block various paths of the game. If you want to play the game 100% with all side-quest this can become anoying and force you to restart the game in the worst case. Also some side-quests become really really tough!!! For example, I felt two parts of the side quests were too hard: The Wizard Tower and the fourth Ancient Boss. Only hardcore platform-gamers will be able to beat these.
Also there is a possibility to unlock a new game mode after completing the game. The "New Game Plus"-mode. This is a more difficult hardcore-mode for a second playthrough. Unfortunatly the game doesn't inform you how to unlock this game-mode. I finished the game with the good ending and collected all the crystalls, but didn't unlock it.
Overall the gameplay is very challenging and fun. Because of the above mentioned rough edges I will give it a recommendation for Fans of Action-Adventure Platformers with 8 out of 10 Points. With a bit more ingame information about certain consequences of gameplay choices and making the "Wizard Tower" and "4th Ancient Boss" easier to beat, this game would be more accessable to average platform gamers and I would change my ratings to a full 10 points.
