Its a simple top down shooter.  Defeat your enemies and get your high-scores, but remember discretion is the better point of valor.  Don't be too zealous or you will find yourself in a hell of your own making.

Thematically, you are fighting negative emotions with bad coping mechanisms.  This turns the game from a top down bullet shooter into a bullet hell where you are the boss.
