Classic games on modern hardware
Game Room was part of the social gaming service Xbox Live on Xbox360 consoles. Launched in March 2010, the game allowed players to download classic hits and compete with each other in the virtual world. In addition to the console, the game was available for PC owners. Cross-platform multiplayer in the game is not available.
The game is available for free in the Microsoft application store for Xbox and Windows. At the start, players found themselves in a three-story arcade. On each floor, there were four rooms. Their players could decorate to their taste with the help of available scenery and themes. Also in the rooms were virtual arcade cabinets, a maximum of 8 in each. In addition to the classic mode for all old games, Game Room added new ones - for example, added online leaderboards. The game is available for about a thousand games, which at different times appeared on Intellivision, and Atari 2600 and the arcade. Once hackers managed to steal ROMs available in Game Room games and use them with third-party emulators - 188 titles in total. Some users have been convicted of such an act, others have concluded that this is the only way to keep the game from being removed from access due to an expired license.
