In this version of gauntlet, we naturally find the basic principles of the original gauntlet: advancing, finding keys, opening doors, fighting against hundreds of enemies, ' generator ' of watches or ghosts to be destroyed. It is as well this sensation so specific to gauntlet to be invaded by hordes of enemies at the opening of a door.
But let's stop the comparison because there is still world between this gauntlet and the original 2D (I revived the emulator Amstrad for the occasion). I find in any case this recent version very successful with several modes of games, an excellent Visual, 4 varied and interesting characters, intense fights. Of course, this game is more fun in co-op but it also plays very well alone, even if I find it more difficult.

I was fairly shared with the game when I started it solo. I did not hang while I am rather a client of this kind of game: I am given a warrior who can rush into the heap and I am kept until the end of the game.
I dropped it and my teammate continued his quiet part by advancing well since he arrived at the last boss alone. The peak of difficulty for this one is quite violent. He asked me to join him to help him. We decided to start a campaign from the beginning and there I hung.
Gauntlet, it is four classes or even five with the DLC (which I do not have): Warrior (which I took), Elf (favorite personal of my game partner), Valkyrie, Sorcerer (it seemed hard enough to play) and necromantic. The tutorial allows you to get your hands on the different classes to see the one that best suits its style of play.
Then it's gone for randomly generated levels (it's not amazing, but nice to see the small changes) filled with enemies to dézinguer, traps and whatnot to hinder progression. The monsters are not very varied, nor difficult to eliminate except that they are often very numerous. One of the mechanics of the game being to drown the players under the number and it works fine.
There are powers, weapons with different abilities, costumes to buy with gold recovered in the levels or by unlocking masteries (destroying elements of the décor, beating a boss,...). Gold is a good way to get the hell out of the other players to find out who will have the most while cooperating since the game is quite difficult. There is the ability to resurrect with recoverable skull parts in levels or by eliminating a number of enemies.
Graphically, it's pretty and varied enough not to feel weariness. The levels are pretty short overall, the funny bosses without being famous (in number of three). The lifetime of the campaign is correct knowing that there is an infinite mode for those who always want more.
In summary, it is a perfect game to play several (up to four). It's simple, direct and efficient. The game is not technical, but rich enough to have fun.
