Glory's Rest DX
About
You are a nameless warrior. Your lover passed and you've resolved yourself to challenging an endless stream of creatures until you find your final rest.
This is for MiniJam 45, theme is Dungeon with a second mandatory theme of "Pocket Size".
To fit the mandatory theme this game uses the resolution and palette of the Gameboy Color.
This is a rock/paper/scissor style game. You start with 100 hp, the enemy attacks periodically. You need to determine the enemy's weakness and kill them. See how far you can get before you find your peace.
This represents a lot of firsts for me.
- First game in almost a decade
- First gamejam
- First time with godot
- First time making my own graphics
- First time making my own sounds
- First time making music
This wasn't the game I set out to make, but at least I can say I finished and was able to participate. I learned a lot from this. Basic music theory (which I didn't apply well because I couldn't make a reasonable song in a reasonable time), sprite based artwork, animation, working with a limited palette, how to theme the UI in godot, how to create a project in godot, gdscript, audio streams, basically just how to use the engine.
I look forward to my next project, which should be a massive improvement.
