Grimshade reviews

A beautiful indie game that only requires players! Grimshade is a project that I had the pleasure of backer during their crowdfunding campaign (the height of my support being up to my savings, it was little) and that I waited impatiently! I have been expecting a different SRPG for a long time. And I was served! The character evolution system only happens by improving-or acquiring new-equipment. This makes the first fights quite difficult because the progression of the PJ is done quite slowly. At least at first. A lot of try and error, on my side, to learn how to use the character skills correctly and avoid them getting oneshot after two rounds. There is also a management of morale and exhaustion that makes the fights more realistic for me. But it increases the difficulty too, and especially the maneuverability. In short, the fights are surprising and we are really obliged to play tactics, rather than strategist, as soon as there are more than 4 opponents... For me it's only positive! But as much to warn for those who would find it too punitive. To talk about the game and the universe itself. The story is very engaging and they manage to create an intense story while playing on some forced clichés (the tank that takes itself for the right and right Knight, the amnesia kid who has divine powers...) but at least, Ruby and Charlie arrive very quickly to give more scope to the dialogues. Ah Ruby Ruby Ruby . . . A real ray of sunshine this fun;) The decorations and illustrations are beautiful despite some cinematics a little robotic, due to the choice of 3D/2D. In any case, some frescoes are breathtaking and the syncretism at the base of the universe is so well done that we love to discover this universe between shadow and light, eleores and Livs. We remain mainly in camera clot in a besieged city. One might think that the universe is not wide enough but they manage very well to avoid the sensation of choking. Unfortunately, Grimshade is not waterproof to defects. The game being indie, funded on the end via Kickstarter, you had to release a game finished pretty quickly. At the expense of a very short beta-test period that would have deserved to be longer. There are some display bugs, but the team is working hard to improve things as quickly as possible! I say patience to the players! Despite these bugs, the game is worth it! And I say Bravo to the team talerock who is very responsive and who managed to do what few of us can afford: a sharp and off-the-beaten GPRS game!
