Harass: Arcade Edition
About
Harass is a single-player side-scrolling arcade motif piece that simulates the experience that women go through when dealing with sexual harassment on public transportation. Using an endless side-scroller, the game looks to emulate feelings women who experience sexual harassment on public transit feel. An unnamed female protagonist attempts to go about her normal life using her city’s public transportation while being accosted by various people also using the system. Whether they are staring at her while she walks or verbally assaulting her when they get close, she must try to reach her destination.
Harass was developed in a little over four months during the 2019 Spring semester of Alternative Game Development in the Entertainment Arts & Engineering program. This game project was featured at both the University of Utah EAE: Launch Day Event (April 24, 2019) and the Gold Master: Alternative Game Dev Playtest and Demo Day (May 1, 2019).
