Haven Moon reviews

A Homage to Myst with Potential. Due to some negative Rating I was sceptical, now in the Summer Sale I clicked the buy button and did not regret it. Even if not everything is perfect, the Game offered me, by and Large, what I expected: Myst feeling. Pro The Game world is great and it's Fun to explore it. The Controls are flawless and background music and Sound effects provide a suitable Atmosphere. There is not much to be faulted in graphics and sound, I only noticed little things, e.g. a Texture flickered, some Light Reflections seemed somehow strangely unnatural (but both can also be due to my System) or the Music made it difficult to Hear a Sound Effect, which is important For a Puzzle (I may have only overlooked the Volume controller For the Background Music). The faulted Brevity of the Duration of the game can be found good or bad; For €2 (in the Summer Sale) I had 3 Hours of good Entertainment, a great Price-/performance ratio. The fact that you can easily dust off 100% of the Achievements is a nice Bonus on top of that. I would also like to Praise the fact that Linux has been taken into account in the supported Operating Systems. But now to the where Haven Moon definitely still has potential Upwards: Con Maybe I'm only too doof to understand the Puzzles, but sometimes I felt like the Ox in front of The mountain and even when I had once got a Tip on the Net I wondered how it should have been found or what the Logic behind it is. Two Examples where it's especially true: I haven't been able to figure out what to recognize a defective Capacitor-the Cause of the "erratic current"-on "Cannon Island." I read the Notes again, looked again at the Map of "Cannon Island," looked again if Capacitors look defective and heard what strange Noises make, but ultimately I Had to Consult the Solution, because stupid for me not in Question came. The Logic behind the Coordination system for Determining Positioning Has not opened up to me. I Assume that the concentric Circles on the Map mean "Island Installations," the Teleporter on "Telescope Island" is the Center and 0 ° is upward vertically, about to the Center of "Laboratory Island," then the Beacon Would have to be there at about 5 °, the Teleporter ( So if I have understood correctly the Signal source) are around 390 °. But why can both be seen at 0 °, only under different Height angles? Again, I had to look for some Trying out in the Solution-too bad, I liked the Puzzle especially at first. The fact that the Game ignores the Language Setting of Steam And the Operating System (both English in my case) is also somehow unwisely solved. Until I found out that you can change the Language without a New start or installation, I played in German instead of English and can now also say something about the Translation: This is really bumpy and therefore sometimes quite incomprehensible. Example: "Once triggered" in English Is in English: "If you leave the knops on ..." Um... Exactly;-) I find a little of a shame that Drawers and Cupboards are not to open and books cannot be read. This is not necessary for the Game, but it would make the World more detailed-for example, you could not show more protected works in the books if you store them in pure Text and display them with a nice Font, the Storage Space requirement is likely to be displayed. Negligible. Admittedly, you would have to come up with something with the Cursor or the Clues, because at the moment everything you can interact with Is important for Advancing. Conclusion At Haven Moon a Lot has been done right and if you want to experience the Atmosphere of Myst again for a few Hours, you will get your Money's worth here.
