This game has a lot of interesting elements, and I'm curious about the story. The graphic style is very "old style", and this is not a problem. But the fights take time, and there are many-too much to my liking. The combat style is tactical turn-based, with a big focus on buffs/debuffs, and honestly it's well thought out. Unfortunately, your group of adventurer will meet more and more opposing bands, and there are many, and it takes time, and time, and even more time, without a line of history between two. The slowness is, I think, constitutive of the engine of the game: I have a recent computer (2015, for gamer). I also encounter some problems with the detection power ("far sight"), which indicates "safe" areas as they are trapped or infested with enemies. And re-re-re-long fight...-.-' but that, I don't know if it's a local bug or a general flaw (I didn't have the patience to look for). Scenario: 7.5/10 narrative frame density: 4/10 combat speed: 2/10

Heroes of steel RPG is an excellent role-playing game with stylish retro graphics I confess to having taken a lot of fun playing with heroes of steel. To begin with, you have to create a team of 4 adventurers. For this, you have 8 that are offered to you. Each time you have a choice between two heroes with a different trade. The story begins with our four heroes in prison. They do not know each other and they have nothing to love except that they have one point in common, anger against whoever threw them in jail. They escape, discover that the city where they live flirts with the forces of evil and narrowly disappear into the depths. A point that I forgot to clarify. The Earth has been at war with the gods. The surviving humans have fled underground and recreated a world. I have a wish with this game is that the authors add an extension with additional characters and classes, but hey! To discover all my impressions on Heroes of steel RPG. [www.graal.fr]

I was hoping for some oldschool RPG fun when I bought this one. Frankly, I was disapponted. I can deal with the basic graphics, I have no problem with the nerve grinding music (turn it off, Winamp and some 5FDP in the background serves me nice). But I have a serous problem with the horrible interface which lacks any decent character overview and especially practicality. And this affects everything you do, sorting through and equipping items, using potions, healing your characters, yep, everthing takes a step or two more than necessary everytime you do it. The other thing is that I don't like the balance. It is lots of potion drinking and exploiting KI and resting places wich let you recover for free. Enemies deal a lot of damage and often hit better than your best fighter, on top traps are totally unfair and in some areas more than plentiful. You have to use perception skills, buff, debuff, rebuff and heal heal heal all the time (remember what I said about the interface) and rely on better hitpoints and healing abilities of player character to live through battle after battle after battle after battle, a bit of dialoge and battle, battle battle again. It eats lots and lots of time, most of it spend doing what I described above, navigating through the horrible interface and buffing, healing and maneuvering in an endless repetition of the same. Leveling up doesn't change much about that, in fact you have to skill and constantly use even more buffs against the overly heavy hitting hordes. No fun for me.

WAY. TOO. LONG. I put more than 100 hours into this game, got bored nearly to death, and haven't even reached the final chapter.
