The Story in Journal is sometimes innovative: You slip into the Role of a Girl whose Diary is suddenly blank one Day. Your Job is to refill the Pages and make different Decisions in the process. Once you Have completed a Day, flying Notebooks indicate that you are finished and can look at a Bonus Story. On your Way you will discover very different Stories about young Love, Theft, Cheating, Friendship and much more. But That's Basically the real Highlight of the whole Game. Unfortunately, Journal is completely in English, which makes it difficult to Answer the individual Questions. Unlike other Games of this Kind, you don't have the Opportunity to select whole Sentences in Journal, but only a few Words are available to you. For example, you will have to decide whether you choose "needling" or "apologetic" in the Hope that the Girl will then choose her Sentences sensibly. Unfortunately, this is not always the Case, even if you decide on the nice Answer. Very often it happened to us that we ended up in an Argument and a few Figures didn't want to talk to us anymore. This should be improved as a matter of urgency. And when we're just making Decisions, You can make Decisions in Journal, but they seem to be lapsed the next Day. We had it a few Times that we argued with a Character the Day before, but the next Day he talked to us completely normally as if nothing had been at all. Beautiful Style, bad Technique Even the Graphics are quite successful in Journal, because everything looks like hand-drawn and thus gives the Whole thing a completely individual Style. We also really liked the musical Accompaniment, as everything is backed by a gentle Music that fits very well with the sometimes oppressive Scenes. But here, too, we have to complain, because Journal is really technical Crap in places, without wanting to exaggerate now. The worst thing is mainly the Control of our Main Character, since it still slips a Bit, once you have let go of the Arrow keys, so it likes to miss its Target and we have to readjust. The same Problem exists when you walk through Areas. Very quickly it happens that you leave an Area, because the Good just slips a Bit. Sometimes it has happened to us that we have flown through Areas almost like, as it also runs on when the Notebook in which the Story is told flicks over. So it can happen that you just skip whole Areas because they don't flip over fast enough, but the Girl is already through. That's unpretty and no real Fun if you just slip past things every Time. This should be improved as a matter of urgency. Likewise at the Control with the Space key, because you choose whether you want to talk to someone or enter Houses. This does not always work smoothly and also causes a lot of Frustration. Even the mentioned Flipping could have been so nice, but since on The one hand the figure continues to run and thus areas are skipped and on the other hand the next Area is shown briefly and then flipped over, and then completely shows it, this only seems loveless. If you can incorporate such a beautiful Idea, you should also implement it better. Sometimes the Flipping is also accompanied by an envelope noise, but this is usually not done. It is a pity that the Whole thing would have a lot of Potential. Journal-Little Game for in between? We would so much like to recommend you play The journal and participate in the Story, because this is really the greatest Strength of the Game. In Journal you make Decisions that are supposed to influence the entire Life of the young Protagonist, but unfortunately you don't really notice anything about it. There are far better Games that deal more meaningfully with Decisions and where decisions can really fall to your Feet later. Even technically, Journal can't inspire at all. Especially the Control of the Protagonist is quite a Spasm, as she slips every Time and so sometimes sometimes fix skips entire areas. That just can't be done. Journal looks like a Game still in Early Access that developers are still tinkering with. Unfortunately, it does not seem like a complete Game in which the Developers have put a lot of Attention for detail or for the Technology. With a bit more Time or Budget, the Whole thing would probably have become a pretty good Title, yet that's how it falls somewhere by the Wayside. Too bad, really a shame, because the Potential was definitely not used. Rating: 5vou100 More on Gamer's Palace [gamers-palace.de]!
