Learn Japanese To Survive! Kanji Combat reviews and comments

As much as I had recommended the first opus despite their flaws, this one is disappointing despite its qualities. And the flaws remain: we spend more time doing micro-management than really learning. What should be a way of repeating without getting bored becomes a chore in itself. Especially, the knowledge of the Kanji is not rewarded since one can always wipe without making a single fault. I want a game that evaluates my achievements, not my ability to farm for the best equipment or the fact of throwing a heal at the right time. This was already the case for Hiragana and katakanas, but we could still skip and learn these characters without forcing too much. With the kanjis, precisely, it's more difficult. I have retained the meaning of the kanjis, and I can recognize them (in the list, but in a real text?). For pronunciation, it is quite ineffective. I can only recommend this software as an alternative method, in addition to another more traditional.

First of all, this evaluation is based on my experience during the beta-test (seen how I had to Rusher the game for this beta, I felt not to re-retest it when it came out ^^ "). So, after the Hiragana and the katakana, here is the third piece of the TRIFORCE of the Japanese language: the Kanji. The story remains "classic" if one refers to the previous two Opus (kana invasions, all that...), but remains sympathetic to follow and will keep you still in suspense until the end. Regarding the gameplay, one is always on the same bases of the previous games: those of a J-RPG made with RPG-maker, even if improvements have been added, the main being that the Kanji are tuable in one attack; This makes the fights faster without making them simpler, but it adds dynamism in this part of learning and most importantly, memorisation. Let us dwell on the characters: you will be able to unlock a good handful of companions to be able to advance in your adventure and even learn more about them via a system "of affection" that will allow you to unlock their abilities, even if the skills in the game are quite anecdotal, one must confess well; We will spend more time hitting the Kanji and treating the Bobos between two fights these same characters can help you to develop your base camp that will allow you to have access to merchants and other amenities. To conclude, if you seek to learn Japanese, this game (as well as the other two Opus of the series) will help you greatly. But the best is to pair it with another educational support (manuals, books, etc.) to implement what you learn.
