A great Game for in between, if it doesn't bother you that you keep failing and dying. The Graphics are pretty to watch and the Music always fits the Action. There is so much the Character can learn and so many different Events and Paths to take. Just a pity that so many points/events are also fixed and seem to always happen, no matter how they made up their minds before. That the individual Dialogues Can be skipped is also very practical, who likes to read the same Text several times? A Setting Of the Conversations as well as Translations into other Languages would still be great, but even without them it is a nice Game.

The game is essentially a Novel game with a linear progression until you princess' coronation to become Queen. You train your princess in various skills which determine if she can beat the challenges ahead or not. When you think you could just memorize the events and then, step by step beat the game and be done with it, think again. This game is the Nethack of Novel Games. Nothing you do in this game has not been anticipated. Every choice you or the princess makes (You don't 100% control her) alter the reminder of the game.
So in general, it's not completely linear, but the story outline is always the same.
What's most intriguing is the way the game affects your thinking. You can treat Elodie like a daughter and try to make her happy and content all the time. This will probably get her murdered by assassins. You will have to realize that Elodie has to act like a proper queen in order to survive. And by that, you might make decisions you would think are ethically wrong. You can easily make it through the game by becoming an totalitarian dicator that beheads everyone left and right. And if you do make it through the game like that, you begin to wonder if you really wanted the game to turn out like it did. Additionally, there are a lot of different path options and the magical part can be completely ignored (which makes the game HARD).
Overall, I would recommend this game. Even if you aren't into political intrigue and stuff, you could still have a Princess Maker-Style game with a magical girl animu waifu. lol.
