∘ The experience of the Lylat System's moon defender is essential to the game's plot. Making sure that nobody threatens the safety of the moon is the game's major goal. The player's job is to defend the moon from the bad aliens and see that peace is established.

If the player reaches the end of the stage, the game advances to the next stage with additional obstacles. If the player loses all of its health, the game will restart to the start of the current stage. The player traverses the stage by jumping on platforms, and at the conclusion of the stage is a door that must be entered to go to the next stage.
