Many Heads Companion

Created by Joshua Ferguson, Jethro Richards, and Mitchell Heath.

A small virtual companion made for the One Script Jam, and inspired by an idea my dad had years ago for a movie. We added a bit more context to my dad's original 'Many Heads' idea by basing it on my derivative write up of the idea within the SCP universe.

How to Play

Select the gender and head for your Many Head companion and then keep them alive for as long as you can, while increasing their intelligence via 3 mini-games. The life-span of a Many Head is 15 minutes, provided that you keep it adequately fed.

The source code for the project can be viewed on GitHub by following the repository link provided on the submission page for the One Script Jam 2022.

The in-game help menu describes the game controls - however there is a bug with the help menu transition (if you are not using 1920x1080 as your display resolution) that causes the menu to be positioned off-screen. We'll release a fix for this issue once the rating period for the One Script Jam has finished - but we've included the controls for the game below as well.

GENERAL CONTROLS

Press the number keys 1-4 to toggle the room currently being viewed.

Press the space bar or the enter key to initiate an activity in each test room.

Press the escape key to cancel an activity in progress.

Click the left mouse button or press the left control key when not engaging in an activity to swap to the feeding camera.
Click the left mouse button or press the left control key again to try to feed the Many Head.
Press the escape key to leave the feeding camera view.

If your Many Head dies press F to create a new Many Head.

Press Q at any point to quit the game.

REACTION TEST CONTROLS

Click the left mouse button or press the left control key to react.

MEMORY TEST A CONTROLS

Click and hold the left mouse button to select an object on the shelf, drag it to a new position on the shelf by moving the mouse, and place the object back on the shelf by releasing the left mouse button.

MEMORY TEST B CONTROLS

Press the number keys 1-9 to select a tile.
