Mars Odyssey reviews

Too little content here and a few bugs as well. I was expecting much more by this title. - The gameplay is non-existing - You cannot explore Mars at all. The areas are so small (and empty, with no details at all) you can barely walk around the rovers. - Repairing a rover with a welding torch is wierd... repairing a rover with a hammer has absolutely no sense. - The voice keep talking while you try to read information on the instruments... very annoying. - BUG #1 (small): The dust storm on Pathfinder suddenly disappear. You wait for it, you want to see how strong and devastating the dust storms on Mars are, you struggle to protect the minirover and... nothing. Simply nothing happens. It disappears before reaching your position. Very bad. - BUG #2 (large): the teleport did not work in the pathfinder site for me (tried with both controllers) so I could not leave the cabin :( I still managed to save the minirover (from nothing, see above point) but I could not explore the lander. +/- As a planetary scientist at the Italian Institute of Astrophysics and Planetary Science an a major expert on Mars, the only thing I appreciated was the small description about the vaious experiments on the rovers (there are some technical words, however, which could make it difficult for non-specialists to understand). This title has great potential, but has o be largely improved. Current state is not more than a short demo.

The experiment lasts about twenty minutes. It is cut into 3 phases all in roomscale (moving in your room and using the Vive controllers):-the ship in Martian orbit that allows you to have a magnificent panorama on the red planet, and to access the holographic room, and to the capsule room. It's pretty nicely done, you have two three switches and doors to operate, and you move by teleportation. -The holographic room will present Mars within the solar system, an educational course destined to all, short but very beautiful. Only in English unfortunately. -Finally the capsule will lead you to the sites of different probes: Viking 2, Mars Pathfinder, opportunity, and curiosity. A little bonus will be offered to you at the end, which I will not spoiler. First of all in these sequences on the Martian soil the successes are the helmet of the scuba: superbly realized and oppressive, Bravo! The probes are pretty well modeled even if this point is upgradeable. You can interact with the probes: repair Viking, shelter from a sandstorm (very well made) Sojourner by piloting it, clean the solar panels of Oppy, and deflate with blows of hammer curiosity (?). Once the task is finished you will be able to touch with you controlers the dispute elements of probes, which would display details of these instruments. The only point that fishing is the level of detail of the textures too low, and the low number of elements to medium range, a point clearly to improve to make the experience ideal. THE great quality of the experience is its absolutely grandiose music. The experience will be compatible with oculus rift when the touch controllers are released. Summarizes a good experience while waiting for the blockbusters (hopefully) that will be March 2030 (by NASA) and the Martian VR experience (by Ridley Scott). Hoping that the dev will add content (via the unused SAS 03?) and will improve the textures (via Photogrammetry). The price of lancerment of 4.79 euros is very correct, valid until September 15 on steam so go ahead.
