Nessy The NES Robot (NES Demo)
About
Nessy The NES Robot is an upcoming 2D platformer designed for the NES (Yes, the actual NES), and was built using the NESmaker game engine.
This project has been in the works ever since The New 8-Bit Heroes, the creator of the NESmaker game engine, released its platformer module in late 2018. From there, we slowly built the game "bit by bit", but had to completely redesign it when they added scrolling in 2019.
In March-April of that year, The New 8-Bit Heroes' Byte-Off competition arose, and we got to work on a demo for the competition. Joe Granato of The New 8-Bit Heroes even told a story about how his kid's first games were from the competition. The very first of which being... Nessy The NES Robot. And it was this moment that made us motivated even further to continue the game.
We've continued to improve the graphics, camera, stages, engine and many more since the Byte-Off competition. We want to thank everyone from that competition & The New 8-Bit Heroes for making this game possible.
